Here's the BEAUTIFUL second shot that dropped Forrest, which hurt him and set up that falling away jab that finished him: Text. He avoids the left hook by Forrest, head fakes to Forrest's right to bait the right hook, and when he throws it, Silva bobs back to Forrest's left and lands a devastating right hook. The last time I saw boxing that good was... well, watching boxing.

We're finally seeing the level of MMA striking rise to the level of pro boxing/kickboxing, and their names are Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida. Then you've got Demian Maia raising the bar in BJJ with his ridiculous submission skills. There are some fucking badasses coming out of Brazil right now.

apparently early in the fight griffin dislocated his jaw.

That explains why he got DROPPED with a seemingly weak, fakeaway jab. Not that Silva is weak by any means lol.

Wonder what now for Silva. I know Hendo wants another shot...he's seemingly the only one whose given him a challenge lately

Having watched those two looped gifs, Griffin definitely had an injury to his jaw. I could have taken that second shot and stayed standing. Now that FIRST one on the other hand...

well... maybe the first two rounds of silva measuring up and machida backing off but, in the 1 minute they actually exchange would be epic.

Agreed. Two incredible brazilians.

As for Griffin, I'm guessing his jaw was broken or something by silva from one of the earlier knockdowns that he knew required immediate attention after the ko, and that's why he ran out so quickly.

That's what I was thinking.

From what I've been reading on other forums is that the jaw injury is just bs. Forrest apparently did not go to the hospital after the fight. He went to his hotel. No injury to his jaw as reported. Just an injury to his pride.

who cares if he dislocated his jaw and that is the reason a jab ko'ed him. The reason he had a dislocated jaw was from the punches he took. Plain and simple he got his ass kicked. Also what a little bitch. He can't at least shake the mans hand?

Not official, but Silva to drop 185 belt and move up to 205.

Can't say I blame him.

Taken from that article:

?Lyoto is my friend, he is my brother and there is no way that fight will ever happen,? Silva said.

Crap! Its totally understandable afaic, but still very unfortunate.
But right after that
?I?ll make it happen,? White said winking his eye. ?It?s not even about money. It?s about proving you?re the best, it?s about securing your place in history. It?s about putting on a super fight that fans want to see. ?I?m all about making big fights that fans want to see.?
He will strongarm them into it, if they both continue to win. Machida has to get past Shogun before he even has to concern himself with the idea.

By the way let me fix that quote of White " ?I?m all about making big fights that giant numbers of fans will pay to see.?

He has such a loyal fan base, most will give him a free pass. Hell, he will probably write another best seller with a whole chapter about this fight.

I give him a pass because even after the damage happened, he went after silva, albeit unsuccessfully.

If by damage, you mean the K.D. The my response is BFD. There are hordes of fighters in every fighting sport, that will come back, some twice as hard, after a K.D. HE earns no extra respect for doing what is expected of a top tier professional fighter IMO.

If by damage, you are referring to the rumor about a dislocated or broken jaw, I reserve comment on that, as I keep seeing conflicting rumors, but no solid reporting about it yet.

Good thing Lyoto is the LHW champ, because Silva just made everyone in the division besides Machida look like amateurs.

Silva vs Forest just shows that the UFC has a lot of room to grow talent wise.

Silva won't fight Lyoto because hes going to throw hadoukens at him.

I'd imagine the fight go something like this:
Silva would be on the inside and Machida would be circling the outside. Silva will strike at Machida first. Machida will try and neutralize the space in front of him with evasion and long range kicks.

If Silva is to win then he will start to recognize Machida's reaction pattern and bait him and with his speed will catch Machida during a reaction. Machida at this point will be out of answers and tricks and will eventually be beaten decesion or otherwise.

If Machida is to win then he will be able to punish Silva everytime he advances into Machida's front zone. Silva will then be hesitant to get into range. At this point Machida will start picking him apart because Silva is forced to fight from Machida's comfort distance.

i'd imagine they will both stand up for most of the fight.

I love how public opinion on fighters makes these huge swings based on single fights.

silva has always fought like this, he did the same to rich franklin.

forrest needed to take down silva, once it was clear he wasnt going to, silva used his superior speed and striking to take him out.

forrest is one of the worst matchups for silva, but people thought silva was in a performance slump so they put in a guy who would make him perform. and thats the end result.

GSP is a welterweight. The interviewer asked him about moving up to middleweight after his last fight against alves and he was very hesitant to even be open to it. Iirc he was pretty comfortable with his size now based on his frame.

If anything, there's probably a better chance of him moving up to middleweight now without silva being in the division anymore.

If anything imo, there's a better chance of him moving up to middleweight now because Silva is probably no longer going to be there for a while.

if GSP wins a few matches (1 or 2) in the middleweight class, that's just asking for a silva gsp matchup!
