fear not - you could be on satellite. sure the sustained download rates are faster, but

a) there are hardcore bandwidth caps. my brother gets 300mb/day. if he goes over, he gets put on 1k/s for the next 24 hours

b) the latency is awful. 1000ms+. you can't play any game over the internet simply due to latency. not diablo1. not starcraft1. nothing.

My sister, who I go to visit often (at least once or twice a year, for up to a week at a time) had AOL dial-up until last year, when she FINALLY got Roadrunner.

This is even 2 years after I had offered to pay her first year's service, if she would just switch! Talk about procrastination!! She's good to go now, though! :awe:
