One of my snapper traps just went off, and I heard the last death twitches of the mouse. I really hate trapping the things. It strikes me as being very dishonest. Tempt them with tasty Nutella, and break their little necks. I wish they weren't such fuckers, and chewing everything up. If they were cool about it, I'd take them in for the winter, feed them, and let them go at spring time. We'd all be happy then. Oh well. You gotta do what you gotta do :^/

sticky pads are more disturbing, I guess cages are the best.

I have one of those electrical deterrent systems that you can plug into electrical outlet... haven't seen them ever since but then that are very rare here anyways..

At least they tend to kill the rats quickly.

They fucking starve to death on those damn sticky pads.

cages don't work. at least i have never had any luck with them.

sticky pads seem far worse to me. so its stuck on a pad still alive. you can't get the fucker off without hurting it so what's the other option? let it starve?

use the snap trap and kill it fast.

I used a "humane" trap once. Checked it daily for a couple of weeks, then forgot for a few days, and next time I checked I had a rotten mouse in there. Not very humane if you ask me, so I only use insta-death traps from now on.

lol my grandfather stayed with us for a few months and we had some mice in our garage. He made a trap using a stick, plastic container, and a shoe. He'd catch the things and then take them outside and let em go.

Some mice took up residence in my wife's Escape and I used a couple of those humane traps to catch them. I baited them with peanut butter, and for about a week I would come out in the morning and find mice in them. I took them out in the woods and turned them loose. After a week of no mice in the traps I assumed they were all gone. Fortunately the only damage they did was to the sound dampening blanket under the hood that they chewed a bit of for nesting material I assume. They appear to have been living in the space for the optional cabin air filter.

did you put the trap below your air conditioner?

My AC unit's outside. If they stayed below my air conditioner we'd be good to go. I'd even be willing to take them food and water every day, and give them nice rags to sleep in :^D

my parents have a couple of miniature schnauzers and they make short work of any rodent, much more reliable than a cat and more versatile than a trap.

I tend to like the Snap-E traps. I actually had bought 2 of those and 1 of the electric traps. The Snap-E trap you hold over the trash and shake and the guy falls off. The electric got pissed in when the rodent got zapped, so it stinks terribly, and then I had to scrape the mouse out of there. Not a pleasant experience.

As of now I have 4-5 of the Snap-E traps and all of them are bare, with no mouse sightings all winter.

I am evil. I used poison on a small family of rats. In fact, when the last one was left and slowly dying I could literally walk over to it, tap it with my foot and it didn't really care to be bothered.

I felt/feel bad about it, but you can't let these things nest near your house.

Yep, the snap-e traps are awesome. Got 6 of them spread out around the garage. I have no mercy when it comes to mice. Destructive fuckers ate through the trim in my garage door. Shit inside of my cordless tool charger. Ate through the bottom of the drywall in my garage and tore insullation all over the place. Shit in my kid's bike helmets. Chewed through all of my grass seed bags. Chewed up my work gloves.

Death to all of them.

My Dad has one of the most simple but barbaric trapping methods I know. He basically takes a 5 gallon bucket, fills it up with water, takes a piece of gutter and runs it up the side and then a stick across the top.

Like this:

He will find 5 of them dead and floating in there at a time some days. Wonder how long they paddled away before they finally gave up and swam with the fishes. Maybe a sudden death by crushing mouse trap bar isn't so bad.

Our first house when next to a huge ass corn field. Once it was cut and the temperature dropped we got invaded. Usually the mice met their fate in the dryer or oven... getting zapped as they moved around inside.

Living in the burbs now I still get about 2-3 of those bastards a year.

One of the ways I know we have mice is our cairn terrier sits looking into the kitchen for hours. Wood floors though and by the time he gets traction the mouse is long gone.

the Snap-traps work? i was always bothered to spend that much on a trap. but if they work better then the wood ones great. Sometimes you have to throw them away. so they can be a waste fo money

.

yeah when they take down the corn fields we get a invasion. Every year before they do that i walk around and look for wholes and fill them with a wire mesh and try to fill them.

we get 4-5 a year. so we go through a bunch of wood things.

I hate having to kill them too, they're so cute and fuzzy, I just want to pet them. But yeah they do cause lot of damage and stuff if left alone. Too bad really.

I had an issue with them coming in my attic. I think I found out where but it may be a coincidence that I had just caught the last one. I'll find out next year. Given going in the attic is kinda a pain I have it setup so I get an email notification.
