Question Ugly upside down fans

About to start a new build in a pc 011 XL. I want to bring air in the bottom through the filter but to do that would mean the fans would be "backwards" looking with the back brace for the motor showing. Which defeats the purpose of nice looking fans.

Is there anything made to help with this issue?

I would imagine you could buy stickers (if you are referring to the label as the "ugly" part) for the fan, or something similar, but the backs on many fans don't look that bad IMO. It seems a lot people put crazy bright RGB fans in builds where they care that much about the looks, and if you turn the brightness up enough, it will blind you when you look at them and then you won't see any label.

For example, the Silent Wings 3:

Nah if it was just a sticker i would just take it off. Its the ugly motor supports.
Just like the ones shown. Look great from the front when running but look like crap from the back when running.

if it bothers you that much use a RGB fan.
You'll be so blinded by the RGB LED's that u wont notice that back motor.
Wow such helpful and well thought out post. Normally one would report the post to the mods as troll responses intended derail the thread into a anti rgb agenda.

Maybe if you two know a mod you could just put a sticky at the top of the page warning people that all fan post will be shat on unless its about using what you guys like.

With such elitist answers from the mods I cant imagine why people are going other places to get helpful information.

Also note the OP, there was zero mention of RGB. But hey its your circus and your clowns push whatever agenda you want.

Thanks, cya

Wow, I think you are taking that post a little too seriously dude.

As to your original question, I have an 011 Dynamic, but I am using corsair LED fans. I keep their brightness set very low, and you can see the supports, but they don't look garish or anything. I used enermax fans on my last PC, and their supports are pretty small.

How was this in anyway close to us trolling?
You asked for a fan without the back motor, well there isn't any.
That's how 99% of all the fans made look like.
So we offered you a different approach to it, and then you call us elitist?

Did you even mention in your first post that you did not want RGB?

And we were serious about some RGB fans being blinding.

If this is how you feel then so be it... i will excuse myself out this thread.

Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

If you don't like the suggestions, look up the info yourself.

You also did not say that RGB was out the question.

Way too seriously, apparently.

You are going to see the backs of fans no matter where they are mounted as intakes. Front, sides, bottoms. The only ones you won't have the backs exposed is exhaust fans. That is how it works. Airflow is the main concern.

Clearly you need to take a picture of the front of the fan, tape that onto a sheet of material, and put that on stilts above the fan so when you look in, you see the other side. or wear sunglasses, or turn the case upside down, or tint out the side panel window so you can't see in, or leave that fan opening alone for passive intake, or put the case bottom on stilts then mount the filter panel on top of the fan, facing upwards covering the fan itself, or paint the fan frame with brass fleck paint so it looks steampunk, or use a different case, or mount a 2nd fan on top of the first that is right side up, but non-powered so it spings in reverse because the bottom fan is blowing air through it, or you could take apart the fan and rewire it so it spins in reverse if you use a fan with nearly flat blades instead of curved.

This all seems excessive.

There's some fan out there that is reversible but I don't recall the model. Okay it's silverstone:

These are loud, high flow fans and I'm not sure if they allow using conventional fan controller tech to slow them down... "maybe".

They are PWM, so they can be controlled by the motherboard or a fan controller. But these fans ARE loud. They are also thicker than similar fans of the same diameter. The downside of being able to work in both directions is they cannot have tweaks done to make them quieter. As those tweaks most likely make the other direction louder.

Thanks. There is another factor I was thinking of, that I have encountered with a majority of 120mm+, fans thicker than 25mm. Granted, I am mostly thinking of higher quality industrial grade fans with a little larger motors, but the issue could be present with this one.

They have far more torque and stronger magnets, such that if you try to reduce the speed too much, you start getting a clicking noise that is arguably as objectionable as the turbulent noise you were trying to reduce.
