Uh Oh the feature creep has started. uTorrent 2.2

So 2.2 now includes the ability to install Apps, a la Apple? These look like content channels, sort of like Boxee channels? They've also revamped the interface a bit. I don't mind the concept per say but this kind of thing is why I abandoned Azureus / Vuze for uTorrent. I hope they don't take this too far. Also don't like the browser bar / home page reset they optionally ask you to install at the beginning.

I post a shit load of blog / opinion type stuff here on ATOT. Some people don't like that. Course they could just ignore me and not read it, but apparently it's easier for them to actually read all of my stuff and actually post to complain about it.

Why is it so hard for developers to write one program that does one thing, and one thing only these days? For example, it seems every media player must also feature some kind of "library" function for people who are too retarded to organize their mp3's into folders, as well as the ability to burn CD's, download content from the Internet etc. It should also be skinned, so that it takes an extra 10 seconds to load. Because when you double-click a movie file, you don't want to start watching it as soon as possible. No, you want to wait for some shiny interface to cover the entire screen before you switch the video to full screen mode and hide all the controls.

I don't care. As long as it stays resource-light, doesn't force bloatware (note: I'm ok with useless bars and such as long as it allows me to deselect them during installation) and downloads my torrents, uTorrent can add all the features they want - I'll just ignore them.

Lothar: I *think* newer versions have better support for trackerless downloading.

Hell, I'm still on 1.6.1.

I have refused to download a new version. I've heard about various features getting implemented and some things changed around after the 1.6 series. All I know is that 1.6 is super unbelievably fast, it does everything I want, and that's all there is to it.

I'm on 2.0.4 and it's looked the same for several versions now. I just started it up and it asked to go to 2.2 but I'll have to check some screenshots to see if it's as bloaty as everyone says.

I'm still on 1.7.x, I use the web interface to it as the downloads take place on my WHS. Maybe one day I'll upgrade it but I don't imagine it'll add more than what I need at this point.
