UHD Intel 620 - How does it perform?

I don't follow laptop specs that much and my buddy just bought a laptop and wants to play Escape from Tarkov but he doesn't know much about computers and I don't want to tell him it will work and watch him spend $45 on a game that won't run.

He also has an i3-8130u @2.20GHz and 8GB RAM.

According to the website, he is under the minimum for the CPU, over on the RAM, but the GPU I'm unsure about as it states it simply requires a DX11 compatible card with 1GB of memory.

Any information on this chipset is appreciated.

He should be fine on the CPU and RAM and probably okay on the GPU as well, since this is indeed a very generic requirement and judging by the fact that the game supports even Core2Duo CPUs, I'm willing to bet that the GPU requirement is low as well, something like a Radeon 5770. He should not expect great performance, but it should be good enough.

Keep in mind that this appears to be a game in closed beta and as such is probably not very optimized. Perhaps he should ask around the forums, someone might be able to try it on similar hardware and give him a good idea about the performance.

In any case, the single most important thing for that iGPU to run properly is to have dual channel memory, otherwise the already bandwidth starved iGPU will be amazingly slow .

It's a game that tries to be a AAA realistic shooter while building the engine on Unity.

Your friend is going to have a bad time.

I've seen the reviews and it looks really fun since it's right up his ally (and mine when I have competent friends to play with) but I wasn't aware it was on Unity.

This. I have upgraded my i5 and i3 620 laps for the kids so they can play some very old games.
Today if the laptop was used for simple gaming definitively go for the amd 4 core types and make sure they also have dual channel and of high speed variant eg at least 2667 and better 2933 MHz stuff. Much much faster than a 620 so will play far more games.
