no they WONT work at all.

Because those boards need 2xqpi

Bloomfield is 1xqpi
Gainestown is 2xqpi

You mean the next gen Skulltrail? I think intel can'd that.. Well then again i hear of a X5590 (assume 4gs for the pair) which is suposed to have an unlocked multi and a D0.

GUYS STOP DREAMING DO I NEED TO GET A STEAM ROLLER AND ROLL OVER YOU GUYS.

GAINESTOWN 2xQPI WILL ONLY WORK IN STOCK ON BOTH BOARDS.
OVERCLOCKING BLOWS ON A GAINESTOWN CPU ON A x58 BOARD.
AND NO BLOOMFIELD EVER WILL WORK FOR A GAINESTOWN BOARD.

i7 brings new rules including Xeon Chips. And NO they dont work very well on our X58.

And yes ive tried, and i think gillbot is tired of hearing me complain about a Gainestown in a X58 board.

You guys just wait and see. Wouldn't it be great if intel played smart ass here, On that 2 core model . Be cool if 1 f the 2 none functional cpus worked. Like some AMD 3 cores run all 4

On the Ram thing Doesn't the ondie memory controler for intel except more than 1 kind of DDR3 . It should . So that little 2core jobe should go into Desktop 1366.Socket and work with M/B memory. Intel puts same controler in all Nehalem Cpus do they not. The second link should not matter if not used.

That 2 core baby I would like to see with HT. I bet It be ass kicking little crippled up cpu.

Nope, they are ment for stability.

which is why they and Opterons have made for incredibly good overclockers at various points in the past as they're generally held to a higher standard

obviously if they're purposefully crippled against being tampered with and/or are platform limited they won't be very good overclockers, if overclockable at all

You dont think its *possible* for inter-CPU communication to go through the northbridge?

explain...

you need dual qpi pathways for 2 cpu's to work in a pair.

Intel designed them like this.

Now google a standard P6T-Deluxe Bios option and compare it to mine:

You'll understand after that.

So, are there any significant advantages to a Xeon compared to a similarly clocked desktop chip ( that justify the price premium)..?
