Not really. He lost in a fight with rules. In a fight with no rules... it'd probably come out pretty even. Seal may or may not be more skilled in said scenario. TMK they're trained specifically for moves that UFC flat out wouldn't allow (groin kicks, eye gouges, etc), never mind that many martial arts leave these aspects out entirely. So in short it would depend on the MMA fighter's "Mixture" of martial arts in a no-rules scenario.

Mike tyson = mma guy. Carol Channing = Navy seal.

Obviously after hitting navy seal a few times mma guy will give up and say he's exhausted, and kneel and then ask for navy seal to give him honoroble death. /sarcasm

If you say that it takes a lot mentally to kill a man, then you haven't studied human violent past and present and just plain ignorant.

Yeah its called Vale Tudo. I remember back in the day that had a Ex Navy Seal vs a Vale Tudo guy and the navy seal ended up getting his arm broke in a armbar.

I didn't go through the entire (relatively dumb) thread to see if anyone wrote what I'm about to...

Navy SEALS (and any other US special forces commandos) receive very little hand-to-hand training in empty handed confrontations (e.g. fisticuffs). They get about three to four days worth during their entire training and its a crash course taken along with other types of training. Special forces commandos don't get paid to go into hostile territory and beat people up or challenge them to a contest of fisticuffs, and their training reflects this.

Its very common for newly-christened special forces operators to feel their hand-to-hand training was very inadequate. Many of them seek-out additional training on their own time and at their own expense, only to realize after a few years that these skills are rarely ever required, which is precisely why there is so little emphasis placed on it.

MMA fighter should easily win..unless that SEAL has a martial arts background to begin with. But you dont get much training in the military for hand to hand combat.
