Ultimate Form of Torture?

A few years back I was in my highschool's library and was reading a book about torture devices.. a quick net search reveals The Torture Museum...

Among the more disturbing ones I see there are the wheel where "The victim, naked, was stretched out supine on the ground or on the execution dock, with his or her limbs spread, and tied to stakes or iron rings. Stout wooden crosspieces were placed under the wrists, elbows, ankles, knees and hips. The executioner then smashed limb after limb and joint after joint, including the shoulders and hips, with the iron-tyred edge of the wheel, but avoiding fatal blows. The victim was transformed, according to the observations of a seventeenth-century German chronicler, ?into a sort of huge screaming puppet writhing in rivulets of blood, a puppet with four tentacles, like a sea monster, of raw, slimy and shapeless flesh (rohw, schleymig und formlos Fleisch wie di Schleuch eines Tündenfischs) mixed up with splinters of smashed bones?. Thereafter the shattered limbs were ?braided? into the spokes of the large wheel, and the victim hoisted up horizontally to the top of a pole, where the crows ripped away bits of flesh and pecked out eyes. Death came after what was probably the longest and most atrocious agony that the ingenuousness of the power structure could inflict."

In the 19th Century in some US prisons they used kind of a shower device. You were strapped unto a chair, and a funnel was put around your neck. Then they poured gallons of water over you, which made it feel like you were drowning. It was used as punishment for prisoners.

the catholics during back around 1300 or so would tie heratics to stakes,cut there abdomen, and have dogs pull out their intestines while they were still alive.... I would rather have been burned... though crucifiction of the roman times was bad too.

the most worst form of torture is involving pain. How does that tank give you pain?

I saw a guy on the history channel who survived torture in africa (actually South africa i believe). The final part of the torture for his fellow prisoners was when the torturer cut out their liver and then forced them to eat it. He was lucky enough to be freed by a mob that stormed the prison where he was held.

one particularly disturbing thing about this is that it happened in modern times in a fairly industrialized country. This happened in the late 80's.

Drawing and quartering was also fairly common in the middle ages. They would tie your arms an legs to 4 horses, cut you open, then using a pole would rotate it winding your internal organs onto it (drawing), Maybe light them on fire, then scare the horses to tear you limb from limb (quartering). fun huh?

ouch, that tank torture sounds pretty darn bad. imagine if some sort of pop music were stuck in my head when i was in the tank... that would be terrible.... "oops i did it again, i'll be the one, bye bye bye" Ahhh, it feels bad just thinking about it. wait a sEC, that's a new form of torture right there.

there's also the ancient chinese torture by death of a thousand cuts where they'll make cuts into your flesh of about an inch long all throughout your body. you either bleed to death or pass out from the pain first and then bleed to death.

pour salt on wound to increase level of pain.... or as it seems to be a running theme on here, add a few hungry rats to nibble on the open wound/sores.

The japanese had a method of inserting a long glass rod into the prisoners urethra of his penis, and then making him become erect (sometimes by ladies) and then once fully erect, they would get a huge hammer and smash it completely. Thus creating fine little pieces of glass. ouch!
