Hi Guys, i have two questions:

1*What do you prefer, to buy a brand pc or to build one yourselves?

2*The second is that im planning to build a pc, but i need to know if all the pieces or accesories are compatible with each other, i mean, the memory with the motherboard, the videocard with the motherboard etc. The pieces that i have chosen are:

*MOTHERBOARD: MSI K8N NEO2 PLATINUM Socket 939
*PROCESSOR: AMD FX-53 Socket 939
*MEMORY: GEIL ULTRA-X PC-3200 DDR-400 1G ( 2 x 512 )
*VIDEOCARD: ATI X800XT PE
*SOUNDCARD: CREATIVE LABS SOUND BLASTER AUDIGY2 ZS
*HARDDRIVE: WESTERN DIGITAL Caviar RAID Edition Series 250GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
*CASE: THERMALTAKE TSUNAMI DREAM
*POWERSUPPLY: ANTEC TRUE CONTROL 550W
*OPTICAL 1: Plextor 12X DVD+/-RW Drive, Model PX-712A Black
*OPTICAL 2: Lite-On 16X DVD-ROM, Model SOHD-167T Black
*HEATSINK: THERMALTAKE SILENT TOWER

This is it, what do you think about it? is it good for gaming? should you change something?

THANKS FOR YOUR REPLIES

looks great, but ditch that plextor and grab an NEC 16x dvd+/-rw drive at newegg for $85.

No speakers or monitor? Also, since you're spending that much why not get an extra 1GB of RAM and another HDD; perhaps a Raptor or that new Maxtor drive...

Might want to ditch the X800XT PE and get a X800PRO ViVo and just do a BIOS flash to make it into a X800XT PE, with the extra money you save if you want you can get a better cooler for the card and you will have saved yourself a decent amount.

a, agreed.
b, there is 533 DDR-1 available.
c, S939 doesn't require registered RAM.

the internal memory controller ont he a64 does not support ddr2, and it has nothing to do with the mobo. get geil pc4400, that stuff rox. good luck finding the vid card. if u want ultimate, make a raid fo 15k rpm scsi drives!! i agree with mick3y. o, one last thing: IF THIS IS THE "ULTIMATE" MACHINE, Y ARE U USING AIR COOLING???? i'd recommend http://www.newegg.com/app/view...=17-148-008&DEPA=0 as the psu (look at 12v rail) instead. from my experience, wd drives suck, seagates are nice (my wds have had BAD reliabality) 512mb ram is better for games on a64s, so u may save some dough that way too. if you want ultimate, get the apple 30"lcd or the ibm 22" uber res lcd

brand name pcs are crap, they use cheapest components just to say that they have X megs of ram or Y gigs of hdd space. they sell specifications, not performing products

The DDR 533 Does not work with the card because the K8N NEO2 PLATINUM supports from DDR233 to 400, it doesnt reach to 533.

The videocard comes out in october 1st in a lot of websites, the motherboard does not support pc-4400, just 3200. Hey, another question:

*What is the difference between EIDE drives and SATA drives?, because ive been looking for the exact drives and the prices are totaly diferent, the SATA is more expensive in all the cases, by the way......which you recommend?

Why you need THERMALTAKE TSUNAMI DREAM , it is too Expensive, buy a $30-$40 case with 500Watt power supply which comes with it, on Pricewatch.com, and save more money
