No offense, but I would have reservations about putting a grown man with a pony tail in front of clients as well. If it was a back office job it would be a different story.
I have short hair its my choice. I work for a large multi-national corporation and lots of men in my company have long hair. If you look back in history men had long hair until very recently. long or short it doesnt matter to me.
Get a haircut you filthy fucking hippie.
Isn't it cute how the little kids who think they understand how the world works get in a tizzy when more experienced people try to explain to them how the world really works.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned that in many corporate settings, you very well may interact with people from other countries. The cultural expectations in many other countries is a clean-cut professional look. Don't like it, then you can be the dumb ass who sets out to change the world. There are a lot of you. Virtually none will ever make it to upper management though.
If you look back at what you wrote, that's exactly what you did. Also, given the fact that your opinion is based on BS, it's irrelevant.
BTW, I'm pretty sure a lot of people here like me. At least I actually contribute something to threads other than BS anecdotal stories.
Dress code at work is Jeans/T-shirt with sandals allowed. Had to throw on the Business Casual because the EVP was in town, and I threw a tie on the long sleeve dress shirt because why the hell not.
Showed up for my interview in a 3 piece and boss was in shorts/sandals. Client meetings are obviously Business Professional.
One thing that does get me is that they could have put me in program with the understanding that I cut the hair if/when I get my own client.
Regardless, ears have been lowered and I'm probably going to try and get back in tomorrow because I let my hair lady have some free reign and she left it a little too long on top and it looks foppish. Was nice at the gym today to not have hair between me and the bar for squats.

pussy.
'you have to cut your hair to be promoted' + no stated rules against long hair = get fucking paid.
there's enough legitimate litigation out there to bleed the shit out of corporate america, but everyone would rather just open their mouths and let the fecal consumption continue.
i would get it buzzed at a black barber shop and have them shave a mural into the back of my head.
funny, i've never been able to chastise a boss for being a fat, ugly, greasy, offensive retard.
i worked at a shop once where they fired a $8/hr oil change kid for having a fauxhawk.
fuck our country.
lulz. the type of people who don't want to conform to your shitty version of 1950's america have no interest in 'upper management,' aka the last stop for most incompetent kiss-asses with nothing more than a piece of paper to refute their stupidity.
I don't see how his opinion is based on BS if his experiences have led him to think what he does about the average person with long hair. And from the polls, it looks like quite a few people agree with him.
Also, I'm sure more people would like you if you actually addressed people's comments rather than calling them morons. I think you have still failed to respond to the points made in post #83, among others.
Yar, ye be sailing the high seas o' professionalism. Prepare to board the ship o' responsibility... And cut your damn hair. Including your piratical facial hair, which, let's face it, doesn't exactly scream professional. Your client is going to be a bit distrustful of you if they think that you are drunk off your ass on the finest of spiced rums and mere moments away from running them through with a scimitar. Savvy?
No, and no.
You seeing someone with long hair wearing crappy clothing proves nothing. Also, the poll indicates that most people agree on the OP cutting his hair, not that long haired people are crappy dressers and unprofessional.
Nice try.
No one is trying to prove anything. You are the one drawing strange conclusions interpreting my opinion.
I know it's hard for someone has retarded as you to comprehend, but if you go back and read my posts slowly, you might get it.
I stated my opinion. I never once said it proved anything. You can "cool story bro" and "nice try" all you want, but you're really grasping at straws here.
