You aren't going to get a promotion for cutting your hair. If that was the only thing holding it up, they probably would have told you the terms for the promotion and not be all "Oh and by the way..." after the fact. They're stringing you along. Up to you if you think sticking around for playing those games are worth it.

It's a good idea if you're gonna say someone is retarded to at least have basic grammatical skills.

Also, you said your experience "proves" that there's more long haired guys that are bad dressers, and now you're saying it's just your opinion. No, it doesn't prove anything. It seems you're too retarded to understand that.

Also, you're the one grasping at straws. You're using your anecdotal evidence as "proof" of something. I can make up stories, too.

I can tell you lost the argument when you have to nit pick at a typo and use that as an insult.

Where did I say my experience "proves" anything? Why are you making shit up? What stories are you talking about? Not once did I ever say the word proves. How stupid are you?

Nothing you have said has made any sense. It's really not that difficult to understand that my opinion is just that. Yet somehow you still have lots of trouble with it so what that DOES PROVE is that YOU ARE RETARDED.

I wouldn't be surprised if OP didn't know how to dress properly either, as a lot of people that I've met or seen who had long hair dressed rather sloppily.

Yeah, but most guys don't have long hair, so the actual number of sloppily dressed short hair guys will obviously be higher since the population is a lot larger than long haired sloppily dressed guys. But % wise, more long-haired guys will be dressed poorly.

Never once mentioned that they act like assholes.

I merely stated that from those that I have seen or met, they generally weren't dressed that well. I realize that not every one with long hair is like that, but because I have seen a lot that, I stated that I wouldn't be surprised if OP did dress sloppy.

You don't need to say the word "proves". Just the fact alone that you're saying that, because of your experience, long-haired men are more likely to dress poorly means you're trying to "prove" it.

LOL Wut?

seriously, you're really grasping at straws now. I guess if anyone says ANYTHING that means they are trying to "prove" something.

Why do you think I'm trying to prove something? I said that I wouldn't be surprised if OP dressed poorly because the people that I've met who had long hair, typically dressed poorly. I honestly don't see how I'm trying to prove anything.

You lose. Thanks for playing though.

LOL, moron. If you say "from my experience, guys with long hair tend to be sloppy dressers" or "OP has long hair, so he's probably badly dressed" it means YOU ARE trying to prove that people with long hair are bad dressers by using your supposed experience.

You lose. Thanks for playing, though.

Really? I am trying to prove that? How interesting...and here I thought I was just stating that I wouldn't be surprised if he was, NOT that he definitely is.

If I was so sure that he was, I would have definitively stated that he was a poor dresser due to the fact that he had long hair. However, notice that I said "I wouldn't be surprised" meaning that it's not definite.

Reading is hard isn't it?

LOL. Just LOL.

I already quoted you saying the majority of long haired people are sloppy dressers. You were using your anecdotal evidence as "proof" that they're much more likely to be unprofessional dressers, which is what I've been saying starting some comments above.

Now you're using the "I did not say definitive or all" excuse. You said in general long haired people are sloppy dressers, which is obviously something you can't prove yet you keep trying to push your anecdotal evidence as "proof".

Reading really is hard, isn't it?

why does that automatically make me someone who's trying to prove something?

The only thing I was saying that in my opinion, due to my past experiences, I would bet that he was a sloppy dresser.

You are the one that's going off on tangents trying to prove something.

Damn you are stupid.

When you say a mustache and goatee, are they connected (as in a circle beard) or are you rocking a mustache with a separate goatee? If it's the latter, combined with the long hair, you might as well start dressing in oversized frilly shirts and giant coats, because apparently you think that "Captain Morgan" is an appropiate style for a professional office. And I'm in complete agreement, by the way. Dress like a pirate, go into work, and commandeer your boss' desk. That'll show the lily-livered son of a biscuit eater who the real man is.

...and in the midst of so much fail, we find epic win. Congrats on having the best post in the thread.

You are the one that's going off on tangents trying to prove something.

Damn you are stupid.

You state your personal experiences and then draw a general conclusion from them. If you didn't think it was enough proof, you wouldn't be drawing conclusions regarding it. Same as any other supposed anecdotal experience you or anyone else has. You see something, you try to use it to validate your argument.

Again, if you didn't think it was proof, you wouldn't have drawn a general conclusion regarding it. Instead, you would've said: "I've seen most long haired guys are sloppy dressers, but that's just my experience". The fact you said the OP and most other people that have long hair probably dress poorly means you took your experience as a general fact and therefore it 'proves' that most guys with long hair are, in fact, poor dressers.

Damn, you are stupid.

Alright people, let's not get stupid here... nevermind, too late.

Long hair on a man is almost always regarded as unprofessional in traditional work environments. I'm not saying that judging based on looks is okay, it's just how it is. Unfortunately for the OP the job he wants involves presenting a professional appearance, which long hair doesn't provide.

I don't think his boss' rationale for denying him the promotion was unreasonable. Like Doppel said, there's no shame in taking one for the team and letting the man have this one if it means that you'll be able to better provide for you and your family.
