ULTRA 1000VA 600Watt UPS

There's a good deal on this at Buy.com and I wanted to see if anybody had experience with this unit or any unit from Ultra. I've never heard of the brand and there are mixed reviews about their products. Help me out gurus!

Some of the early Ultra PSUs were quite poor but the new X-Pro units in 600, 800 and 1000W flavors have recieved very good reviews. They are based on the SevenTeam server platform.

This UPS I have no knowledge about. Ultra has stressed a quality line up over the last year and maybe this UPS is decent, sure is cheap enough. I have a Belkin 1200 and 1500 here and both have been bad mouthed on this forum. The biggest issue has been the hassel changing out the batteries in the 1200. The 1500 was bought from Buy.com for $120 shipped. You might want to ask or search over at jonnyguru.com. jon used to work for Ultra but no longer does. He may have some input as to the OEM.

If I had it all to do over again I would see if APC had any refurbs on offer before buying anything else.

Not really much help but if you do find out who the OEM is...post it here please.

I do not think that UPSs have a UL number like PSUs do that indicates the OEM.
I looked, they don't.

I asked over at jonnyGURU and he said the OEM is Powercom. He said that they're "fairly respectable" and that they make Energizer's units and possibly Belkin's.
