Furthermore, a little common sense goes a long way in deals like this- Anything worth having is rarely cheap, and definately never free.

That's not the proper spirit for the "Hot Deals" section.

It is a seemingly ugly case, but free is free, and it has some good expandability. Anyone know if an 8800GTX would fit in this thing?

Firstly it's not free. Secondly they are betting on a bunch of tools who can't fill out a rebate form perfectly by crossing all the T's and dotting all the I's. Really folks a hot deal is a good price on something we WANT, not something that we wouldnt have under normal circumstances.

But hey if you think they are giving away free cases then more power to you!

Anyways like I said it wasnt a threadcrap but a comment about the description:

Wanted to drop in some first hand observations on this case. I have bought 9 of these and another this evening (The others were Blue).

They are actually pretty sweet looking, clean, industrial and server-like.

They are of adequate quality and the only PITA is the top USB port is virtually useless unless you have thin connectors. The blue power LED is bright as hell.

In as far as being free, well, ya they are free in the end. I guess they do cost you 5 minutes of time and 39 cents and a bit of waiting. I still have 2 rebates out from earlier this month but otherwise all the others have already came.

I would highly recommend this deal to anyone looking for a decent case on the cheap.

I?ve bought and used EverCase, Enlight, Antec, Enermax, AthenaTech, and Rosewill cases and outside of one EverCase which I loved, the Ultra case is my 2nd pick.

To bad there is no free shipping (yet?). If you can be patient, Fry's sometimes will add free shipping to offers like this - they have in the past.

As for the looks, I could care less as I don't plan on mounting Picasso's in them. I've built 2 systems with these, the FAR PSUs and Frys CPU+Mobo offers. Great surfing, email and basic office machines for next to nothing .

Oh, and I guess I'm not a "tool" since I've gotten all my rebates :Q.

If this version is the same as the one that I have, then yes, those buttons are located toward the left near the door hinge. I don't particularly care for the reset button because it is too small and recessed to press it with a finger. You need to find a pen or something. In some ways that could be seen as a good thing I suppose. The lock on the door isn't going to deter a serious infiltrator, but it could stop some casual inspection or less determined children.

I haven't had any issues with this case at all. It has been very serviceable and functional. I have the black one (which is what is now pictured in the OP's link - I don't know if that has changed since the original posting). The top USB port of the front two is rather close to the swing up door and does make it somewhat difficult to access. But it is still usable by the flash drives I have and standard cable used for cameras, phones, etc. You just have to look a bit harder for it if the case is sitting under the desk or on the floor.

I built a rig for my friend with this case and with free shipping this is a tough deal to beat. For better ventilation a few 60mm fans could be a good idea though.

Just FYI, this case is about an inch longer than all the other mid-towers I have sitting around here. Doesn?t seem like much but I have noticed it can be an issue with an enclosed computer desk like a lot of people use. I had a problem with 2 desks of people I put these in for. The desks had the closed back, which is sh1tty for cooling anyway.

That said I doubt any of us are dumb enought to buy a desk like that or if we did, we would have the sense to knockout that back panel.
