Hi everyone. I have this PSU for about 4 years and it was used on a Athlon64 3000+ pc. I am thinking to use this PSU for my new system which using Phenom II X3 710 + ATI HD 4670 512MB.. Mother board is Gigabyte MA780GM US2H which has 24pin power. My PSU has 20pin only, I know i can use the 20to24 converter. Is it reliable? what do u guys think??

Anyone know if this PSU is true power 500W or otherwise?

That has degraded I am sure. Decent PSUs are not expensive. Do you really want to risk it with a 4 year old unit?

I can tell you are trying to stay on a budget, but....

This is a pre-ATX2.x unit, which is when the specification moved the majority of the capacity to the 12V rail. The psu is probably still ok to use, but determine the actual wattage from the 12V rail rating, not the overall power rating. You don't necessarily need a bulky 20 to 24 pin adapter, the mobo will work fine without it.

Dying violently and taking your motherboard CPU and GPU with it. Seriously, Ultra PSU's aren't that great when new, much less 4 years old. Buy a new (better quality) one

More details on your build/budget and we can recommend a replacement

Right now i'm on a HUNTKEY PSU 350W. Is this enough??

Proc : Phenom II X3 710
Mobo : Gigabyte MA78GM US2H
GPU : ATI HD 4670
RAM : 4GB
HDD : 1 sata 320GB
1 DVD

I'm thinking to over clock a little, tats why i need higher W pSU.. not much.. maybe 2.6 to 2.8/3.0ghz.. can it handle?

Beat me to the punch!! I would definately seriously consider either of the PSU (Corsair 400 cx or the Antec 430w Earthwatts).

If Huntkey rates it at 350W, it is probably really only capable of 250W.

i have one of these as well which is slowly dying and needs a replacement quickly! what drew me to the power supply in general was due the "x-connect" feature...
it makes the cable mess tolerable.
are there better alternatives that have this cable select system for the power supply?
specs for reference:

Two I'd consider, and about the cheapest, decent quality power supplies with modular cabling:

Antec BP550

Seasonic M12II-SS430

Anything less and it's most likely just noise/ripple generators with horrible voltage regulation junk from Sirfa or other questionable manufacturers (the true manufacturer, not the rebadger/relabeler.)
