So why is it despite all these good reviews if you were to venture into the General Hardware forum and ask about this psu all you'd get is "don't skimp on a psu, don't trust ultra, your computer is going to blow up and catch on fire and burn your house down and we'll all laugh because you didn't buy an enermax"?

Simply because Ultra has made some very bad ones. My buddy's 1st generation xfinity sounds like a jet engine and has been fixed (soldering) in three spots.

This series isnt known for the problems associated with the x-connect (modular) 1st gen series. The only issue I have seen with this one is the 120mm fan failing or becoming overly loud/noisy. From what Ive heard Ultra has a pretty good RMA system and will send you out a new power supply in advance if you notice any problems with the fan.

This is true. Also, if you register the power supply, you get a lifetime warranty.

I am contemplating getting in on this deal. $20 shipped after-rebate is not bad, especialy since the rebate is from a reliable source.

My system will need about 260W max, so I was about to go with a $50 shipped Fortron 400W. But saving $30 on something similar in reliablity and rating is tempting.

Are the amps on the +12V sufficient?

Well I guess I'll go for it. It seems like every time I buy an expensive brand it dies in 6 months, but everytime I go cheap (I'm on a $30 Allied now) it lasts forever. Of course if this does burn my house down I'll buy an Enermax next time.

Radioshack packed it pretty well and it arrived in good condition.

Looks really sweet and so far no issues (running on a PSU tester currently and seems very quiet and cool at low load - will update how it performs once its installed in the case).
