LOL, FAR more people complain about CS:S being too unfriendly to newbs, so, no that's not what is being said here.

UT2K4 is a cartoonish arcade style game.....the kind your kid sister can hop on and ended up fragging some people just by jumping and spamming rockets wildly. I have no doubt people can reach high levels of mastery within the game.........then again, people can reach high levels of mastery in Frogger too......that doesn't make it a complex game.

Exactly what I was thinking, except for the last part as Frogger freaking rules!

I was able to start playing UT right away and hold my own, while CS has taken me forever to get only somewhat decent.

Those who don't play the game seriously have no clue how much strategy is involved, especially in competive play or 1v1s.

I can beat better players than myself occasionally, purely because of map control.

Skill is somewhat a natural thing; some people are just better, no matter how much one practises, but learning to time armor/health/weapons, knowing the spawns, & controlling the map take a lot more time to master.

For a good idea of just how good an average good player is (average, not great), go play TDM in Fractionary or LOB's servers...

Truely good players won't even play in pub servers, as it's too easy for them generally...
