Um...unreal tournament 2004 SUCKS

OK, so I got unreal 2004 finally, and I went into a few of the servers today. This game absolutely blows. I have next to no ping, but I can hit someone in the face with a rocket and they don't die.....but if they wing me with the link gun my health can go from 125 to 0 in under a second.....people just spastically flip and jump all over the place somehow keeping locked onto me...but if I strafe, my reticle goes nuts and I can't stay focused on firing on my opponent. I mean I did ok considering I last played regular Unreal Tournament about 3 years ago, but still....UT 2004 is horrible....horrible weapon balance, horrible weapon aiming and hit/damage calculations...why on earth would ANYONE play this game??

Onslaught 2....ok maybe most of my kills in this one were in the turret of a tank, but still the first one is nice

I've never had any major problems with lag and false collision detection. How are the weapons all that unbalanced? I agree that UT2003 is total and utter crap, but 2k4 fixed every fault.

There are many games that suck more, including every single iD game and every Bungie game post-Myth 2.

EDIT: And wtf are you talking about regarding the reticle? It doesn't move in that game at all.

yeah you just need more practice. UT2003/2004 play completely different and IMO better once you get the hang of it. I tried playing some old UT after playing alot of UT2003/2004 and I couldn't stand it.

QFT! i missed that mod, easily my all-time favorite. when i played, though, there werent every many others....the mod was young.

i remember sneaking up on a sniper in a *nice* spot, and stabbing him with a bayonet.

Try Onslaught.

And practice against bots firs. It, sounds like you're way out of practice and suprised that people 3 years ahead of you are better.

It's a very fast paced game that takes a while to get used to.

It's my favorite game. I've played almost every day since release. I tried UT GOTY for a little bit last week, and I was happy to get back to UT2k4. The weapons are better and there's room to move. I feel like I'm wearing lead shoes in GOTY.

I just reinstalled this game (finally got the disc again from home). Great way to kill time (no pun intended). Of course, if this is your first time playing, you'll have a hard time. It takes time to figure out what works best for yourself and adjust to the dynamics of the game. Play for another 3 weeks, then come and complain.

I didn't like UT2004 much, despite being a longtime veteran of the original game. They toned down most of the weapons and made them underpowered (pretty much everything but the minigun, which is now too powerful), and the whole game in general feels slow paced compared to UT. It's a real pity, as the game is packed with content and the level design is often brilliant.
