If there were a special discount for people who subscribe to Insight's e-mail newsletter, coupons, or other discounts then I am not aware of those. However the majority of people who have ordered the scanner here have paid at least $39.99 plus shipping/taxes. After receiving your scanner you can complete the $30 mail-in rebate form but this is an after purchase rebate not before. If I am wrong, someone please correct me.

That's all I needed to hear, count me in. Asked him why the 90 day warranty and he said that's what the manufacturer wanted which I don't believe but oh well.

Asked him why the low price and he said because it's the end of the quarter? Uhm, ok. They have roughly 400 available right now of 800 they should be receiving in tomorrow.

There were no special discounts to those who subscribed to the newsletter. However, this item was not listed with other flatbed scanners at Insight's website. Instead, an link was attached to the email message. That link was written in javascript which would have included your email domain.

This leads me to believe that this special was reserved for those on the mailing list.

I hope this scanner works out well for all those who purchased it. I, on the other hand, have no use for a USB scanner as space considerations forces me to use a parallel version.

Well I ran over to my local OM and picked up the ACER 640U. Comes to $29.99 after rebate.
PCWORLD August (flame away)... says this little scanner had one of the best scan images of all the 10 or so they tested. Good enough for me. AND I have it NOW. (always a plus).
Came with some pretty cool software too.

This rebate is specific to this scanner purchased only at Insight. Sometimes manufacturers have these limited rebates with certain companies. From reading posts earlier in this thread, this deal is completely on the up-and-up. IMHO, this rebate is only for this particular scanner, the 2010u. A rebate on the 2000P is probably a completely different rebate and should not affect this rebate.

Oh yeah I received my scanner today! $9.99 (plus $7 shipping) for a 36 bit UMAX USB (Mac/PC) flatbed color scanner, this is HOT!

Not sure if I will FleaBay, sell to a friend or keep it for myself. Now I can say bye bye to my aging Agfa SnapScan 1212u.
