Reading from Wikipedia:
Of course, there's no adverse affects on the shuttle, but that bird is either dead or emotionally wounded for the rest of its life! :laugh:A bird was struck around 2.5 seconds after lift-off. The bird impacted near the very top of the external fuel tank, and appeared to slide down the tank in subsequent frames of the video. NASA does not expect any adverse affects from this impact, because of the slow speed of the spacecraft when it occurred, and because it did not impact the shuttle.
