I think some of you are not clear on the rule.
IF the there are 2 strikes and and the batter misses strike 3 YET the catcher trapes or drops the ball the batter can run to 1st.
in teh game the ump NEVER called out.
So yes you can have a 3rd call strike but still take 1st.

Actually, I thought the people on Fox were saying that the Ump called out the batter twice.

ok nobody is arguing that the Angels lost the game because of that call. Nobody knows what would have happened had that actually been a strikeout. What we do know is that the Angels had a completely unfair call that put runners in scoring position when there should have been none. They had the odds stacked up against them with a runner on base when it never should have happened in the first place.
This only reaffirms the need for instant replay in baseball. What are they worried about, the game getting slower? They should have a system like football where managers can challenge the calls, etc. I sincerely hope the Angels do not lose the series because of the game last night. The good news is that they split 1-1 on the road and can now come back home and hopefully win their home games. If anything this will only rile up the Angel players and fans, thus putting more pressure on the WhiteSox, and we all know how the Sox' do under pressure.
