I have an asus A7V8X and an athlon 1800xp unlocked in a machine. I'm able to run at the stock speed with the FSB at 133mhz and memory at 333mhz. However system isn't stable when I decrease the multiplier to 9 and increase fsb to 166mhz. It'll crash in battlefield 1942 or 3dmark.
Any sugguestions to what my problem might be? at 9*166 my cpu should be running at close to 1500mhz which is slightly underclocked so the problem shouldn't be the cpu. Memory is corsair and it shouldn't be a problem because memory speeds doesn't change only FSB. I'm starting to wonder if it might be the video card since it's an ATI Radeon 9700 and it's been known to have some issues with 8x agp boards however it runs fine at 133mhz which would lead me to think it's something else.
