Hi, I have Gigabyte B75ms.
Due to some issue, I had not start it for 2 weeks.
Now today I have started it, its looks fine. Then I shut it down. Now the problem is--
Again when I try to start it, zzzzz.. nothing is happening. SMPS fan, cpu fan not moving. After cross check I have found my ram, smps, cpu fan, processor all are ok.
After some different method, I understood that by the front panel switch my cpu is not turning on, because with all components attached and in power on mode I shorted the Green-Black wire combo in the 24 pin jack. And the system started.
But there's a thing, it doesn't turned on to the boot. Rather that it going to the bios and I had to choose a boot option to start into my windows system.

What should i do now? How to start it with front panel.?
Please help...

I’m not clear on something. Did it come on after you shorted it? If it did then the cable on your case is defective. If the short didn’t power the motherboard up, then the board is broken.

Sadly it’s bad news either way.

Could it be the case button itself that has the problem? If that is broken or partially broken it might be an explanation for the behaviour.

Assuming the position of the start button is at the front and the case design allows it try removing the front panel and pressing the actual start button directly. Of course it could still be the wire from that which is damaged or the MB header itself as Muadib suggested.

Doesn't explain the straight to BIOS/UEFI though. That can occur if the CMOS battery has failed or is on its last legs. You'd expect the BIOS to have reverted to factory default so check if that has happened.

If it is not that then I'd test the attached hardware one item at a time to see if any of those is the culprit. I've noticed my system occasionally goes straight the BIOS screen at boot and it tends to be after I've detached a previously normally attached device, like an external HDD, which was being used at last shutdown.

A sticky keyboard key or mouse key, if start by mouse is available, can also do the same thing - after all you have to do at boot to get into the BIOS normally is press DEL or F2 or other key(s)/buttons. It is just a small electrical signal and a mechanically failing micro-switch could be the cause.

Unlikely to solve the problem but I'd still run SFC (System File Checker) on the primary drive and CHKDSK on all your drives. The latter can take a hell of a time.

Yes. After sorted(on the 24pin), it came alive to bios then windows system. But not with the help of front panel.
Yes, Everytime I had to sort it.
Cable is ok, I have checked.
Even with tweezer (i.e front panel sorting) it failed to turn on.

Mantrid has a point. It could be the power button itself, but depending on the case, that could be harder to troubleshoot. Does the control panel come off on your case?

You can buy a switch which will connect to the 2 power pins and use it as the power switch if need be. Is this a dell? I have seen some of them have front panels which fail.
