Unauthorized microwave use

How about you put the microwave in a safe? You can put a hole in the safe so that the power cord can go out, but only big enough for that cord.

Keep several ketchup/mustard packets taped to the ceiling of the microwave, when you are not using it.
When food is cooked, the water in the packet with super heat, and the packets will explode, spraying ketchup and mustard all over their food.
Unless the unauthorized users are jacking the mike to cook hotdogs this should be very distracting.

I don't understand why you're calling them cheap for using "your" microwave. It's not like you actually paid for it with your own money. The money came from the company. Despite being in different divisions, you guys still work for the same company. Why don't you get some work done instead of brooding all day over "unauthorized" use of "your" microwave.

Because they've bought into the "you vs them" mentality the manglement fosters in order to keep labor from concentrating their focus. Divide and conquer is the lesson of the day.

I love being a blue collar worker and watching office workers duke it out over this stuff!

You can get plug locks from your local electrical wholesaler, basically you plug into a "jig" which you then put a padlock onto. Cheap and effective way to lock people out of using appliances.

But what i dont understand, arent you creating tension between employees with this? Shouldnt the company provide a clean lunch area, and most usually provide a microwave and a kettle. The boss must be a major tightarse.
