If u place an online order for instore pickup, and pick it up friday, does that qualify as a purchase made on friday, and therefore allow you to mail in the rebate? i'm assuming the rebate will only work on purchases made starting friday...

Hey, is this deal online too for those 6 hours? Cuz if it is screw botherin with the store when they got free shipping!!! Oh yeah i was wondering, how do you preorder without paying for it upfront online? The only prob is i got a 10% off coupon from PC World and i dont think I can use it online, anyways thanks for the heads up on this deal!

No... In store only. The whole idea of the sale is to get you in the store, so I doubt it would be online. What they're going to probably do is what they did last year. The items that will be on special like this video card will be unavailable for in-store pick up and they won't be availabe online for the instore price during the sale. If you plan on purchasing online for in-store pick up, I'd do it now before BB changes their site and won't let you. Either that or go to a store and buy one now, then go back on Friday and do a return-rebuy for the sale price.

As for the coupon, I highly doubt that we'll be able to use it on this deal. It will most likely be a YMMV depending on store and manager, whether they let you use the coupon. I'm going to try to use it when I buy it in-store this week and then when I return-rebuy, I'll try to get them to keep the 10% discount on top of the sale price. OTOH.. I really don't think this will work though and it might kill my 10% coupon for something else that I might want to buy later. I don't know if I'm going to try it. The savings are good enough for me without the coupon.

It should work, but I don't trust it personally. I'd rather just buy it now and then go in about noon on Friday with my receipt and do a return-rebuy at that time. That way I'll be assured to have the video card and it won't look like I caught wind of this sale early. If I buy it a few days ahead of time, I can just play dumb and say, "hey.. I bought this early this week and you have it on special now.. Can I get the sale price.."

I don't know.. Do what you're comfortable with. I wouldn't wait too long to place your order online though. BB will more than likely change the card so you can't pick it up in-store. They also might not make the card available for pick up until after the sale, so there would be no way to return and rebuy it at the sale price.

If you try doing it online, you're in for an exercise in frustration. Last year at least, it did show up online for $99. Problem is, it'll just show OOS for ever until they cancel your order. You can even go to the store and physically see them on the shelves after the sale and they still won't "give it" to you with the print-out. Then if you don't get them that day, you won't get the rebate. If you go on Black Friday, don't be shy and make sure to ask if they have more, then ask again. Also check out the regular video card section as well as the aisle ends. Some of the BB's in my area are horrible at restocking product on the floor and have items randomly placed around the computer desk area.

Best bet is a return and rebuy as noted above. Also the CSR lines are the only ones that don't have lines right away, so you can be in and out quickly. If you wait too long that line becomes insane as well b/c of all the people applying for no interest financing and BB credit cards.

that was only cause the math wasn't adding up...
plus the thread from the video forum had a lot of exclamation points. we only see those with spammers, and usually they are (imo ) an indication of how hot a deal ISN'T. the low post count (yes i'm ashamed ) played a part also
plus the details were VAGUE at best. just an observation
good luck in the future

c627627,

Its $89 after the $55 rebate. The first $55 off is an instant rebate applied during checkout. Essentially you pay $144.99 + Tax out the door and then wait for your $55 rebate to come in later. I've always gotten my Best Buy rebates in eventually so things should work out great. I already picked up my card tonight (they had 2 in stock) so I will just return/re-buy on Friday. I didn't have a problem doing that last year...

BTW, I got this ad delivered to my mailbox by USPS so this should be hitting everyone's doorstep soon. If someone wants the ads posted, I would have no problem scanning them. Only problem is that my webhost caps the monthly transfer and knowing Anandtech you guys could put me over the limit.

You know what's wild. Visiontek used to be about a mile from me in the far north suburb of Gurnee, IL and BFG is right down the road as well in Lake Bluff, IL.

isn't that kind of illegal? The store MUST honor return requests... now.. i'm sure they could give a hard time about returning and rebuying it for the sale promotions... but no returns at all would be hard to believe. What about people who bought things towards the end of October in which their 30 day return policy ends on Nov 29? Doesn't make too much sense.

If my BB doesn't do a return/rebuy, they can just do a regular return. I'll be damned if I'm going to wait outside BB again 2 hours before it opens in freezing temps in a mile long line with the hope that a card will be there when I get inside.

This is how I picture the return/rebuy where I live, Houston, N. Frwy. The darn people here I have dealt with know there 'policy' pretty darn well.

Return...
card taken to tech for 'inspection'
get your refund
you never see it again.

If a store has made up its mind not to let people return/rebuy, this is all they have to do.

Of course, they may try and get it back on the shelf real quick for resale. You could stand there and wait for the card to 'come out behind the counter' and try and grab it before they even get it to the shelf.

I am going to go to BB in a minute and see what is in the store. I may pick one up if there is one available. However, I am not concerned with this deal. From my perspective, from all the cards I have built with, the Ti-4200 128's are dogs compared to the 64MB cards.

Of course, I am not telling anyone not to try a return/rebuy, but for me, I would rather buy and then just try a PM for the price and rebate.

Edit...
Just to clarify the "dog" part... you have way less chance to find a 128MB card that will OC well compared to the 64MB card. In stock form, the the 64MB card is 'quicker' than the 128.

It has been mentioned that these 128's have faster RAM than normal. Could someone 'verify' that to me, please. I must have missed that somehow. Thanks.

128mb card rules 64mb card no matter how you slice it.. (unless they start giving away 64mb cards for free)

My local BB didn't have any on the shelf but they checked their network and the surrounding stores have them, so I'll drive 25 miles round trip and pick one up. I expect (hope) the BB ad appears in my S.F. Chronicle TG or Friday. I tried to buy today and have it shipped to me or the store but they told me that I couldn't return unless the physical object was in my hand, regardless of if it shipped to me or the store. The ETA was 12/3, so I cancelled.
