I got the Ti4200 card from BB. The card looks identical to the Visiontek Ti4200 reviewed here at Anandtech (Same ram, same heatsink). The only thing I can assume is that all these are suppose to be Visiontek Ti4200 cards with BFG sticker.

Anandtech review looked good, so I think it's a good buy! (they oc to 300/600)

Well, I had no trouble whatsoever doing a return/re-buy. I just waited in the Customer Service line for about 15 minutes and told the girl at the counter I bought the card a couple days ago and wanted to get today's deal. Right off the bat she said "Well in that case I'll have to process a return and then re-sell the card to you at today's sale price so you can get the rebate." Hey, she said it, not me! In any case, I said that was fine and walked away a few seconds later with all the rebate receipts I needed. This particular rebate is going to Calais, ME and only requires a copy of the UPC. I used to work for BB at that particular store a few years back so I went and talked to my old general manager about the return/re-buy issue. He said they were aware that some people were going to do this, but didn't care. Either way everyone will get their rebates & the store will make their money. He said if there were any problems to just bring all the paperwork into the store and they would call up the corporate office to get things straightened out. The one thing he advised, as do I, is to keep copies of EVERYTHING. I'm talking every single scrap of paperwork involved in the transaction. This is standard practive for rebate veterans, but something that people new at this need to keep in mind.

Good luck to everyone else...

Update:
I just ran 3DMark 2001 SE with this card and got a score of 9452. This is with no tweaking whatsoever. I'm going to fire-up PowerStrip in a second to see how high she'll go.

From last year experience, some of the Pricematch receipt got denied for rebate, while most of the Sale or Exchange receipt went smoothly, so its your call. As for all the disgruntled people here, just ignore them. They're just upset that you got the 4200 without having to spend hours waiting in line [/quote]

That's what I'm saying, d00d...
Anyways, I'm back home, and guess what... I went back to BB, did my return/repurchase, and TA-DA, I got me my rebate receipt and rebate form. I don't have to use that 'Price Match" receipt I got earlier. I'm in the free and clear!

Sure, one can get a thrill waking up early, standing in line for a couple of hours in that bitter cold, HOPING for that item one wants so dearly..... However, I was gettin' my rocks off trying to get that return/repurchase transaction in motion. W00t!

Now, if you don't mind, THIS 'weasel' is gonna slap on his new GF4, and friggin' enjoy it.... I'll be back with benchmarks and O/Cing results...

Happy Shopping to all!

I've found that the prices at computer shows are generally worse than what you can find online if you do any looking around. Also, most of what they are selling is a little out of date. It seems to me that a lot of times they are trying to get more from you than the merchandise is worth in TODAY's market. The clientelle is not that sophisticated about what's available and what you can get it for or they would be buying online. This is not categorically true, but I think largely it is true.

That was true in today's case. I mean, I remember a while ago they had killer prices, but not no more. In any case, the ONLY thing that caught my eye was a vendor selling an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro for $300 bucks.... I thought that was pretty good, considering the next lowest priced vendor was $327. Oh well.

How does this compare to the Radeon 9000 Pro 128MB DDR AGP 4X at Circuit City price is 149.99-$50 rebate - $30 MSN(20%) = $70.00

I went to the Pensacola, FL BB to return some defective RAM. Waited in the customer service line for about 45 minutes & they only moved about 6 people in that time. I stepped out of line since I can return the RAM later. I went to check out the video cards & ALL of the BFG cards were there. Not a single one was missing from the shelves! Unless they just restocked, of course.
I picked up one of the cards, installed it, and immediately ran 3D Mark. I'm not very impressed. I only scored 8196! WTF? My old MSI GF2 GTS Pro almost scored that. Now, granted, I haven't done any tweaking so it maight get better. One other thing, the amount of clipping while running the tests was horrible. It even locked up when I ran the DEMO movie within 3D Mark.
I'm going to do some cleaning & tweaking to see if I can make this any better but I'm not too impressed at the moment.
BTW: I also played the UT2K3 demo with everything turned on & it ran perfectly! Very nice looking with no clipping, artifacting, or any other hiccups. Weird.
Here's my system stats for those who're wondering:
MSI KT3 Ultra ARU - 768 MB PC2100 RAM - 2x 40 GB HDD in RAID 0 - Enermax Whisper 350W PSU - and of course, BFG GF4 Ti4200

Impressive to say the least....

Using 3dMarks....
2926 on my Abit GF2 MX400
9698 on the BFG GF4 4200

This is stock clocking!

Man, this makes a world of a difference.

I'll Be back with more info....

I made it to BB in alpharetta, ga at about 5:30, and there were at least 150 people allready there. by the time they opened there were another 150 behind me. when they finally opened, i went straight for the video cards. there were three ticked off looking dudes allready waiting. turns out there were 2 on the shelf, and one was an open box. they had allready asked someone what was up. 10 minutes later the sales rep comes back and says they were somewhere else in the store and they had all sold out. so i went home and went back to bed. around 2:00 this afternoon, i decided i'd go back and maybe see what other deals they have since i have a giftcard to spend, and lo and behold, there were 4 ti 4200s on the shelf! gotta love that place. oh well. gonna go hook it up. . .

heres my story:
I went to best buy at about 9am, the place was packed. I had to cut about a million people in the line so i can get to my oven and bust out my ti4200 (and yeah they were sold out by the time i got there). But anyway i spent about 2 hrs in the line and walked out with the positivly the last card they had. Then i went home and slep untill 2pm

Damn... lots of washer, oven, refrigerator bandits around huh

Then there's some idiots who think they can just walk up to the front of the line right when they open the door at 6am. I love the look on their faces when everyone at the front starts pointing out who butted in.. and the cops just directed them to the back.. LOL bastards

Here's how it's supposed to go when you do a return\rebuy:

1. Walked in Wed. at 6pm, bought one of the 4 cards on the shelf.
2. Drove into work and saw all the shoppers freezing their butts off at 7:30am in front of the store (the news said there was a line until 11:30!!!).
3. Strolled into the store at 2:30 pm, walked up to the empty service desk, got a price adjustment with a new receipt.
4. 2:37PM walked out.

Did the same thing last year and the year before that.

Ok, but just remember there's absolutely NOTHING stashed behind the speaker boxes in the home theater section and I won't have to hurt you.

Yeah, that could be fun. Find the ad first (probably here) and go in a few hours before closing Wednesday night and have a ball.

I've always found this true. Some vendors at a show will sell for less than others, sometimes substantially. But I'm not going to be doing too much show shopping now that I realize how much better you can do online. I did get a fabulous deal on a case this summer, though, and of course there's no shipping, which is substantial for a case. Got lucky. Next show, they'd jacked up the price. I've been finding that a lot of stuff at computer shows is stuff that can't justify shelf space in a B&M store anymore. That's my impression.

just left the BB in Duncanville TX (3pm) - they still had some of the 6-hour sales going. Thay had the Ti-4200 in stock(3), but they also had the PNY Ti-4200 in stock and priced @$99 (no rebates). Thay also had the 9000 Pro 128 for $99 , but I chose the PNY - didn't want to worry about the rebates. Bus-Link CD-RW fro $29, no rebates. The D-Link router is still available w/ 100 rebate...

stay away from Fry's in Arlington - the checkout line is wrapped around the whole store. some people say they've waited 4 hours just to check out :Q

The BB in Gainesville FL closed their return department for the whole day today!
If you prebought, you couldn't return it for today's date!
