stay away from Fry's in Arlington - the checkout line is wrapped around the whole store. some people say they've waited 4 hours just to check out :Q

isn't the $99 pny the 64mb version?

imo, it is not in the spirit of the hot deal forum to do things like this.

no problem. isn't the spirit of the hot deals forum every man for himself?

Hot deals are supposed to be hot... but hot which cools down very quicly if you do not react to it fast enough. I've missed tons of deals because I wasn't paying enough attention... Too many people were saying about this return/rebuy strategy. Well.. if you didn't read it..then maybe....just blame your luck... Not getting what you want because you didn't wake up @ 4:00AM in the morning... or because you didn't read what you should do... they are just same... Just blame your luck......

yes. this is what i ended up getting because even though the 128mb card was available, i did not want to bother with rebates.

I got one this morning, is this really that hot? I really didn't even want the card. If it's not worth eBay I'll take it back.

No, its not really THAT HOT. You can get the same cards for about $110-120 from various vendors online. Also, BB rebates SUCK. I did the return/buy thing last year with the Ti200s. Took months to get my $50 back.

I have a different opinion on that....last year's MIR went to New Rochelle which sucks, however this year's rebate goes to Calais, which is BB's own rebate center...and I had very good experience with them....they usually come back within about a month....

Encountered a few sales reps, managers and cust. service people who had their brains grown on the wrong end of their bodies.

Bought the Kingston 256MB RAM, the BFG Video Card, and a 120GB HD (yes the one for $99, gonna do a AMEX BVG since the damn manager is too anal about it, I had a confirmed in store pickup order on Sunday for $99 and they refused it)
Total comes to around $380.

The F%@#$%&*ing Mofo CSR applied the 10% coupon from SI 12/02 on the RAM, and did not apply it towards the Video Card and the HD. I was hesitant when he handed me the receipt for a total of $348.97 Argued w/ the Cust Service, the Sales Rep, and the Manager that 348.97 is not 10% off $380. They told me, "yeah you're getting something off, so either take it or leave it." I will definitely fire off a letter to BB corporate, their f@#$ing GM at the store can't work out whats 10% of $380.

P.S. Here's a contact name and address for anyone wanting to write to BB:

Michael A. Linton
Executive Vice President, Consumer and Brand Marketing and CMO

Brian J. Dunn
Executive Vice President, Retail Sales

Best Buy Co., Inc.
7075 Flying Cloud Dr
Eden Prairie, MN 55344

Read the fine print.
"One discount (or something like that) per item per household."
It's not 10% off your entire purchase.
It's usable towards one item ONLY.
However, they probably should've applied it towards the most expensive items.
If you get any more off, you are lucky.

Jacksonville, Fl did the "stack the cards somewhere else" so when we got in, 1 of first people in door, no cards on shelf. By the time we found them of course they were gone. We, about 6 of us, grabbed the store manager and started ripping him a new one, especially about the cards not being on the shelf. Now the awesome part, I walked out of the store with a PNY 4400 128mb for $89.00, no rebates to wait for and a better card for the same price. Another Black Friday success story, 2 years in a row for me, got the Ti 200 last year.

Isn't that against the law??? Yeah, I had the same experience with some RAM i bought a mth ago. I ordered in online and picked it up in-store (well, I returned it anyway). We should definitely do something about that. This is not ethical.

Yeah I was thinking that. I probably would've made a big deal out of it if there wasn't another one in stock. I'm almost 100% sure that it was a return, because there was a scratched off sticker on the box. The same sticker that they stick on a box when you bring merchandise back into the store.

Saturday 11-30 9:30AM: 4 in stock at 9:30 when I left (there were 5 but I got mine). Price now $144.95 - $55.00 rebate = $89.00.
this was at Bb in Secaucus, NJ.
BTW: I was there yesterday at 6AM & they were out. I only saw 3 of them in anyone's hands.

I don't see where you are screwing anyone by doing this. It's the responsibility of the stores to make sure they have the advertized minimum of the item when the sale day arrives. The people who buy early and adjust are wrangling the system but presumably not screwing anybody up. I've got to admit, I'm not crazy about doing this, and I did. But I don't think I screwed everyone else here. You are just bitter or sour or something, apparently. Now, hiding things in the store seems kind of sneaky to me.

It says on the rebate form approximately 8 weeks. If you have questions you can call the provided 800 number. What happens? Anybody?

I believe that earlier in this discussion people said this card was a slow performer. Mine is currently overclocked to 315/530 and scored 11254 on 3dmark2001. 30 points off the TI4600. No video glitches or Crashes either. I think this card rocks.

Thanks to "wizards23" and "tnguyen88"

I got my card for $79 after cost of magazine, I had to take back some stuff, anyway so I stopped at Walmart and pickup " Blender Magazine" Dec. issue with the 10% off coupon on page 117 for about $4.
The CSR guy was either new or an idiot so it took longer than it should have but I got the 10% off.

Hi, I bought 3 of these cards if any one is interested let me know! BB in San diego had over 100 left unbelievable! can't beat the price, I build about 3 computers a week for people and this is a steal all nvidia based cards have a minimum baseline that is required to have it's name on it , this is a visiontek rebadge! these will overclock to ti4400 or even ti4600 stock depending on the luck of the memory draw! have a good one guys.

dudes,

well, what a day friday was! had to hit best buy, compusa, office depot, and office max. got to the bb by 9:00, no surprise, the wd hd was gone. bummer. however, the mag 14" lcd i wanted was still there, along with a sweet deal on the ipaq 3835 - $250! snagged all the stuff and paid at the pda counter (no line!) everything looking good, but still had to stand in line to do the return/rebuy on the bfg card. once again reminded what complete idiots bb employees are - only two people ahead of me in line but it still took ~30 minutes for them to get to me! anyway, rather than doing a return/rebuy the chick just did a refund of the price difference ($55) and no rebate printed out! i asked her about this, she looked confused, hit a few buttons on the register, and lo and behold out comes the rebate form. now i'm a little worried that the refund receipt might not be good enough for the rebate (still no rebate receipt). i try to explain this to her and she tells me not to worry but clearly she's not getting my point. so, here's my question: will i get the rebate with the refund receipt? i really need to know - i'd hate to find out 45 days from now they won't honor the rebate & now i can't return the card ...

sorry for the long message! (oh, compusa was a bust - no surprise. i got there way too late! office depot was empty so i scooped up the free cdr 50-pack. since i had everything i wanted i didn't waste my time at office max. home by ~11:30 - not too bad a morning's work! oh, one more thing - the lcd looks sweet, decent size and built-in speakers, but it didn't work! seems like the backlight is busted. grr. 'nother trip to bb on monday...!)

I know his is a little late, but the BB in East Brunswick NJ had 5 of these on the shelf at 4 pm this afternoon. And the store was practicly empty as far as customers.( all shopped out from yesterday i guess) Would have posted sooner but just got home. Still about an hour left of the deal if anyone in the area can get there quickly.
