Don't say I didn't warn yas!

Anybody else somewhat disappointed by the ending? I mean, I figured there would be a huge twist from everything that I'd heard (and hey, it's Shyamalan, 'Mr Twist'), but I had it figured out by the second time Samuel L.'s character was on screen . . . I'm thinking to myself, "This guy is dressed so bad, he's either a pimp or the bad guy."

Other than that, pretty cool flick, though I thought it ended a bit early and there could have been some more special effects. I mean, yeah, Bruce Willis has superpowers, but what can he do other than bench press like a madman? What happens exactly when he gets punched, shot, etc.? Do his wounds heal very quickly, or does he have Superman-like skin? Just curious. But definitely a realistic look at a superhero genre.

I agree completely. It started slowly and never got up to speed. And you are right about giving away the ending. Every time "Elijah" said that they were so much alike, just at opposite ends, you just knew he was going to be the villian.

Good plot, but poorly executed.

Btw, what was the deal with the camara angles? I guess it's someone's trademark or style, but most of the movie was filmed kinda like through someone else's eyes, etc. From behind, always bouncing around.

The movie was great. You are missing the point if you wanted some action flic. Its not a movie about a super hero and super villian in the traditional way.

The movie was very good and I loved it just the way it was. Im glad they didnt make it seem as unrealistic as something like bullets bouncing off him, or something similar. This movie put a "super hero" into a realistic prespective. Nothing flashy or fancy leaping over tall buildings etc. Just a normal Joe who happens to have some abilities.

IMHO, it sucked. It was very slow, which was the major problem. I like the fact that it was more realistic than I thought it would be.

god, that movie sucked. i saw it last nite and i was expecting it at least to be entertaining and give us some twist, but i read that whole thing real quick and i was laughing too hard at the superhero twists, so i guess it did provide a good deal of entertainment, but i'm upset that i paid to see it when i definitely could have waited to rent it or not see it....sixth sense was at least a bit entertaining, but shamalayan should have stopped right there. please don't ever make another movie dude.

Well I guess it depends on your movie tastes.
Dont ask me, I like movies like Bounce.

Actually I like all kinds of movies, from "chick flicks", scifi, horror, comedy, christian mythology (my favorite type, end of the world type stuff, possession, satan, etc)

Saw it last night, and I liked it. I especially liked the twist on the typical superhero/archvillian plot. Perhaps I was a little giddy since it was the first movie where I actually recognized a bit of symbolism (normally it goes right past me) - where his hooded rain poncho was representative of the cape/mask of a superhero.

When I'm watching a movie I don't try to think ahead or figure out the plot, so I didn't see the ending coming.

I also laughed out loud (inappropriately) was when the kid had the gun and Bruce Willis said "You're about to be in big trouble!" That just struck me hilarious considering the circumstances.

And I didn't miss the bullets bouncing off, etc., either, since it seemed to me that the point was that comic book heros are superexaggerations of the heros in everyday life, and while Willis had some characteristics of a superhero, he was normal enough to have a regular life as opposed to living the superhero life 24/7.

the benchpressing scene was pretty funny too...

at the end when he said he had a nightmare to his wife, i thought the whole movie was just a nightmare to him...

I think Unbreakable was a great story, but not the greatest movie. I enjoyed it, but I think it would've made a better short story.

the movie sucked so bad. i was like "huh......" when i walked out of it. I thought it would at least have a story. and no, finding the guy that is directly opposite to you by committing terrorism, that is not a story. could have been better... could have developed the kid and his wife better... everything

perhaps those who are disappointed were expecting too much? i personally thought it was a little empty towards the end, especially where he was in the train station and played out the superhero part (at the hostaged house), but i did enjoy the revelation at the end

I liked it, there just didn't seem to be much meat on the bones of the movie. It was nice, but there was something lacking . . . the way it ended possibly had something to do with it. I wondered whether or not he continued his newfound job or what.

I hate movies that end like that . . . it feels like the director of the film couldn't come up with a decent ending, so he just cut it off and let it go.

I thought it was a mixed bag. It had a very interesting premise, the whole superhero meets real life thing. The problem that it took long to develop it in the beginning and the ending felt rushed. I left the moving expecting something better. Seems like there should have been some kinda epic battle between them I didn't miss the special effects, I think the movie did well without them. It just seemed like the whole movie was the beginning, and was lacking a middle and an end.

<< I think people who are saying it sucked were expecing a differnt kind of movie. >>

Ya hit the nail right on the head. The plot was original, but it was... well... I dunno. It just seemed a dull.

"This movie put a "super hero" into a realistic prespective. Nothing flashy or fancy leaping over tall buildings etc. Just a normal Joe who happens to have some abilities."

Ya, talk about having some "abilities". This guy just touches someone and could see whats going on with their life? Actually, he doesn't even have to touch them, cause when he saw the janitor dude, he had flashbacks. Not flashy or fancy at all right! I would think this is just as unplausible as someone jumping across building and stopping bullets.

I thought the movie was really bad. And from the noises that the movie crowd made after the movie ended, seemed everyone shared my opinion. The problem with the movie was that it just got worse and worse as it went on. It started out good, and thats what you see in the trailers that made the movie anticipated. But starting with the scenes with the horrible acting job and lines coming out from the kid, everything else from then on bordered on rediculousness. The movie has an identity crisis. Is it a serious movie about heroes and villains and their relationship? Or is it an comedy and satire about heroes and villains, because in many parts, including the ending, you're left the feeling of "Should I be laughing or pondering?"

Heifetz

P.S.

The part about Elijah was based on a real story right? What about Bruce Willis' character? It seems too far fetched for him to be real too.

Come on guys, it's obvious a lot of you do not LIKE the movie. But it doesn't make it a BAD movie.

I liked the film. The funny thing is that when I first saw the trailer, I jokingly whispered to my friend that it was the Matrix prt. 2(That whole bit when Jackson says, "You are in a world you never knew existed" or something like that).

The liked the ending when Jackson said "They used to call me Mr. Glass" which felt like the finishing description of the Jackson archvillain revelation.

So, if anyone asks about the movie, tell them to go see it for themselves, I know I have no right to judge a movie as good or bad.

Unbreakable was absolutely horrible. It was extremely S-L-O-W and the story was totally stupid and unbelieveable. It started nowhere, it went nowhere, and it ended nowhere. I went with 5 other people and we all agreed that this was the worst movie we'd seen in recent memory. We weren't alone either. Like Heifetz said, the entire theatre stood up and said the same thing, "That movie sucked"! Same thing in the lobby. It was so bad there were people talking about going outside the theatre and warning others not to see it.

I guess I did expect a different kind of movie. From the trailers I expected a good movie. This wasn't even close! I want my $5 and 2+ hours of life back!

Rob

EDIT: SackOfAllTrades: On the "Mr. Glass" thing... Did you notice that when he fell down the steps in the subway his cane shattered? It appeared to be made of glass. I thought that was strange when it happened but I still hated this stupid movie.
