what an overdramatic waste of talent

every line seemed so intense, made me wonder what kind of people in the real world ever dialogue like that

had a few strongpoints, but i was pretty disappointed after seeing it..especially since it was being all hyped up since the same guy who did Sixth Sense did this one. I also hated the ending.

It was supposed to be a live action comic book. The intensity was inentional, IMO. I picked the DVD as soon as it came out, I love that movie.

yeah, i didn't see *any* of the hype, since i'm not a big TV fan, but that movie was really sad. The box made it look pretty cool, but I found myself saying "WTF is this guy (director) thinkin?" through most of the second half of the movie.
however, i saw snatch last night, and I thought it was bitchin!

Unbreakable was just plain cool.

"You know how I knew....they called me....Mr. Glass!"

It was a movie comic book. I guess its either you like it or you don't, but I wouldn't say its trash or crap. It was just created in a new unique style, so therefore the director was taking a risk.

I dunno its hard to explain but it was a good movie.

Also AI was a GOOD movie, it provokes the audience to think about the ethics and morals involved in the leaps and bounds we will eventually be taking into the future. Unfortunately it was brought down by hollywoods need to make it appeal to the masses. If they stuck with the true intent of the storyline then it could have been an even better movie.

it was a little slow, but I thought it was cool, probably a little over dramatic and we were supposed to feel sad just because the guy's football career ended early? Come on, the guy has a good job, a nice house, a good family, and yet he's so emotionally void? uh no way.

However, I did think it was a cool movie, and I really liked the payoff at the ending.

I wonder if they're gonna have Unbreakable 2 where Sam Jackson escapes from the asylum and wreaks havoc on Philadelphia and Bruce Willis has to put on tights and fight him.

I read in an interview with Bruce Willis that Shamalyan is working on 2 sequels; in other words, Unbreakable will be a trilogy chronicling Bruce Willis' character.

I personally loved that movie. It had some amazing twists in the story, and I'm a huge comic book fan. Chances are if you're not a comic junkie you won't "get" the movie and the writing...

He won't put on tights, he'll put on that cape thing with the hood.

Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons: "Worst Movie Ever."

i think that it is quite possibly the worst piece of garbage I have ever seen.
if they took out most of the dramatic......pauses. that movie would've been over in 20 minute...

<< It was a movie comic book. >>

Ah, that explains it all. I very much looked forward to this movie since it had two of my favorite actors in it. While I wouldn't say it sucked, I did find it rather disappointing.

I thought the premise was, in the least, less then credible, the plot forced and slow, and the writing stilted. It was unfulfilling.

Now, I could certainly deal with an incredible premise; that's what comic books are all about. But, they tried to build a credible performance based on the premise. It just didn't work.

If they wanted the movie to be consistent and truely entertaining, it should have been incredible throughout.

If their intent was to make a "comic book" movie, then this attempt was half-assed at best.

The story is told out a slow but a very intriguing ending IMO. Overall a very good movie but could have been better. Hopefully the sequels will be just as good/better.

I found it haunting and intriguing. To each his own I guess, but I never found the movie bring in spite of its admittedly deliberate pacing.

I disagree. I think it was a great movie. If they make sequels I'll go back to see them.

Nope, you missed out it was a good flick.

It wasn't a comic book movie like Xmen, it was about some of the elements of comic books possibly having some basis in the real (movie) world.

Certainly cool.

Just watched it. I thought it was a very strange premise -- it made me wonder how could anyone come up with something like that?

Similar style to "The Sixth Sense". Very static directing and slow paced. Some of the premise was a bit hard to swallow. I'm a big comic book fan and I thought it was ludicrous to have a theory that today's comic books are somehow based on real life people (I know that two teenagers thought up Superman and Stan Lee invented Spiderman and the Fantastic Four -- nothing to do with legends of past real people).

The concept of a "real life based comic book" is interesting though.

Overall I thought it was an "okay" movie. I hated the kid in it (I usually hate all kids in movies). The kid made me realize again how much better Haley Joel Osment is compared to other kid actors.

i don't think Price was trying to say that there are real life super heroes that do all this weird stuff. he was just trying to find the other "end of his spectrum." through that, he uses comic books as an example. in his world, no one has the faith to believe they have a greater potential.

well whatever, he was criminally insane.

Wow, I too thought it was terrible. What was worse is that there were lots of places where it could have been very good... and then, just ... wasn't. Dunno. A 3 minute summary of the plot would sound like a good story. It probably would have been an excellent 30 minute short drama, where's hitchcock when you need him? But the 2 hours or whatever it was just dragged on and on and on for me...

I AM PONCHOMAN

LOL I kept referring to him as Raincoat Guy during the show after it got stale.

It probably would have been an excellent 30 minute short drama

Exactly what I said to my wife at the end. Except without the "excellent" part.

concur

pretentious too. shali-whats-his-name banked on the phony 'sixth sense' premise
and, for once, aesthetic principles reigned and he walked away with a commercial
disappoinment.
