My beef with these uncharted games is all the unnecessary shooting, by the end of the game its just wave after wave. Slows things down, but I find it annoying since I don't find the mechanics great.

I understand that, the shooting mechanics were never the best but they have been refining them with every release. In The Last of Us they were much better so they have definitely been improving.

For all those PC gamers who said:

1) AC Unity represents a next generation gaming experience;
2) The current consoles are nearly tapped out.

You were wrong. The next generation of gaming graphics is just getting started and we haven't even seen the true potential of PS4.

Incredible what Naughty Dog has been able to pull off on PS4 so early in the life-cycle.

Watching it now, and both 1 and 2 are still very apparent. The gameplay footage looks good, and no one ever said the PS4 couldn't produce a good looking game. Character models look a little detail lacking though the plantlife looks very good.

Naughtydog has an advantage that some recent launches don't have in that they don't even have to try make a PS3 version of this.

Naughty Dog remind me of Rockstar in how they do graphics. They rather use lower poly objects and characters, and emphasize more the shading to glue everything together. I like this approach because it handles LOD better than when you try and do what Ubisoft does which is have really high poly models up close but then have an LOD transition maybe a couple meters out so you can visible see models switching from low-poly to high poly. This happens in Naughty Dog and Rockstar games as well but it's way less jarring because they dont try to use extreme high polycounts on the up close models. The result being that the game worlds feel more cohesive and you get less of that uncanny valley thing happening.

Wait... The E3 teaser wasn't a 100% accurate portrayal of the final game's graphics? Say it isn't so!!!

I don't know why people expect the same type of graphics from e3. Those are usually controlled gameplay videos. Although they did say that was captured direct from ps4. Happened a lot to many games. Not so much that makes you not want to play the game, I haven't ran into that yet.

From that gameplay video, I'm not itching to buy the game. This was going to be the main game making me want a PS4 I thought...but color me unimpressed. Climb, shoot, get shot, somehow don't fall, hop around shoot....I'll pass. I far prefer the play of the newer TR to this, if this video is any indication. Maybe I'm just more into the stealth thing, and a bow works for me since I loved the original Thief titles so much.

Looks nice though.

if you are unsure if you will like it, play any of the other 3 on ps3. this looks to be exactly more of the same, which is definitely a good thing.

But umm that's exactly how the new Tomb Raider is. Now I'm not saying it sucked, I really enjoyed the new Tomb Raider but they are practically the same gameplay.

I didn't feel like in TR there was a ton of scrambling like that - that just seemed to be a ton of scrambling to pick up a gun and then scramble some more. TR's tempo and style I think felt very different than that looked.

Well if you ever played the uncharted games before, you always have a weapon. This demo just showed the beginning of a level where they wanted to show off some of the ways about getting one.

I also enjoyed the tomb raider game which is why I also got an Xbox one so I can play that exclusive. To me it's similar to tomb raider. It's got almost just as much action.

From what I see they didn't take too many risks detracting from the main style because it is another uncharted game. It would be weird if they had made it a first person game or done something odd. I'm sure by the time it's out we will see what new things they added.

I don't care for the character that much. I find him annoying and cliched in the extreme. I'll play this anyway because uncharted 2 & 3 were worth a play through, if a totally forgettable one, and the last of us I am betting has taught naughty dog some new tricks.

This game looks sharp. Imagine how nice tlou 3 will look at end of life cycle for ps4.
PC gamers have kept saying for months now that PS4 is tapped out and that Unity maxed the console out.
Statements like that are ignorant. Just because a system is running at 100% doesn't mean it's tapped out. It means it's running the code it has as fast as it can. As we've seen in all other console generations developers figure ways to code better. There is no reason based on precedent not to think that five years from now PS4 games will look appreciably better than they do now.
Its a beautiful game, but it has more to do with Naughty Dog's incredible ability to hide technical limitations and produce great visuals.
And at the end of the day that's all that matters, like a great illusionist. Hide the flaws, bring light to the strengths. Even the best video games now on the best hardware have God-awful physics and look like real crap compared to real life

The vegetation and facial rendering are top notch. The world lighting looks flat. Also, Uncharted sucks.

Is anyone picking this up Tuesday? I wonder how much it will sell. I rarely ever preorder anything anymore.

i canceled my preorder for the CE this morning and may cancel my preorder for the normal one. don't get me wrong, i really want to play it and know that it's going to be awesome, but i won't have time to play it right now so i might as well not spend $60 on it. i'm sure by the time i have time to play it that it will be like $40 or so.

i think it's going to break records for ps4 sales, at least for a game that is single player focused.

I have the standard edition pre-ordered with release-day delivery from Best Buy. With their GCU, it costs me $47 + tax. Really can't wait to start playing this one, especially with what Naughty Dog did with TLOU (I'm anticipating a more involved, possibly moving story)!

I also have gcu and that's how much it will cost me as well. I guess I can stop by best buy sometime this week to make sure I reserve a copy. I know many will probably buy this title and I don't want to wait around. Normally I always pick up new games on release day without a preorder.

Have the CE pre-ordered through Amazon. Even if I don't get to it right away, still 20% off.

Well I said I'd get a ps4 when uncharted 4 came out. Looks like the time has come unless I can find a reason to wait for that inevitable ps4 refresh first.

The animation and camera angles are incredibly similar to Rise of the Tomb Raider

I personally would wait, but don't know how bad you want to play the game. Only because the current console might drop in price once the refresh is closer to being out.
