Played a bit last night, into chapter 3. One thing I'm glad to see (and I don't know if the last one had this option) is a "snap to enemy" aiming option. I was never a fan of the gunplay in the first one but I finished it. The 2nd one I never finished because of the shooting, and I never touched the 3rd one. With the snap to enemy enabled it acts basically like GTA5, which IMO is just fine for what I want out of this game.

I'll probably plow through it and trade it in within a month.

while i'm not a GTA fan by any means, that is one feature i HATED about that game. it puts the game on autopilot. might as well watch a youtube play through at that point.

Does that make it easier? Or is it just smoother? I don't mind the challenge of having it off.

I haven't played the same areas with it enabled/disabled so I can't compare directly, but I'm sure it makes it easier. I'd imagine you could boost the difficulty if you wanted more of a challenge with this enabled, unless you're already at the top.

Really... the gunplay is what I did not like about the 2nd one. The cover mechanics just didn't seem to work all that well. If it's improved or a lot better, I might consider it.

Depends on the type of game you're after, but for me it helps me enjoy myself a lot more since the default aim controls aren't fun for me.

Eh, depends. Since GTA was built from the get-go with that type of control scheme there were some missions that threw quite a few enemies at you which could get hairy. Plus IIRC GTA had no difficulty setting, so if you wanted it harder there wasn't an option. Overall it was definitely an easy game though.

With Uncharted you have the option of increasing difficulty at least, though I'm not sure how much of an impact it has. I just like that I have the option now to change the auto aim, as it makes the game more appealing to those like me who find the shooting mechanics to be a huge turn-off by default.

I'm going to just put the difficulty on the hardest possible and try the aim assist. I already plan on starting the game over to take my time with it a bit later. Just been swamped with life stuff right now.

Edit: I found this kind of neat. One of the developers explains what he worked on and how they got the ideas from the last of us.

No kidding...maybe I will play it myself instead of watching someone else do it.

Played a bit more, I thought the nod to a certain PS1 game when you were home with your wife was pretty clever. The cutscenes are done very well and all the voice acting so far has been top notch (which isn't news to most people, but it's still appreciated). Without spoiling too much, there's a flashback mission which is the first one you really have some substantial gunplay, and I know I would have been frustrated with the aiming there if I didn't have the aim-lock enabled. Yes, it made it easy but I think that'll make the game go smooth for me.

hahaha so mass murderer Nathan Drake can't hold his own with a 130lb woman?
As with any video game/movie, you can kill hundreds of grunts but always have problems with one of the boss enemies no matter how big/small they are.

Anyone else notice some odd pixelation on some of the characters faces? It is very hard to see but it's clearly there for a moment here and there.

I haven't noticed it on characters, but there's been texture pop-in on scenery in a cut scene before. It was very brief though and only happened once so far that I saw.

Graphically it's the top for a console game but yea I notice the odd texture pop in and some pixelation here and there but it's only for a moment until it finally loads.

This game would be a 9 for me if it weren't for the constant crashing I'm getting even after the update. It makes it frustrating for me to play as it keep lost my progress and having to constantly replay the same thing over and over.

I think I've had two crashes. I noticed yesterday a 1.03 update but I started playing the remastered collection. Almost done with the first game too. I didn't realize how much I forgot happened in the earlier games.

So far I haven't crashed and I am on like chapter 6 or 7 so I dunno if there are more intensive parts later that may be problematic.

I started chapter 9 and haven't crashed yet. I was actually going to comment how stable and bug-free the game seems to be, but maybe I spoke too soon. The initial loading time when you start the game is really long, but it never seems to load after that. If I had to go through that multiple times a day though because it was crashing I would certainly be frustrated.

Just starting chapter 10 here and haven't had any crashes. *knocks wood*

I'm really enjoying the experience so far. The first few chapters were pretty slow, but the action and interactivity is definitely picking up.

My initial loads aren't bad at all but maybe that's due to the SSHD I installed.

I have a 1tb 7200 HD in my ps4 and also didn't notice that the loads were long either. But yea it doesn't load much at all after that.

When it crashes my PS4 sounds like a jet engine but sometimes it will crash right away, sometimes it won't crash for a while. It's really random for me. The amount of times I've had my PS4 crash during a game before Uncharted 4 since launch I can count on my hand. This game just crashed the hell out of my system.

My ps4 has crashed plenty of times in other games too. More than 3 times in GTA, twice on MLB 15. Uncharted was the only game where the ps4 spit the disc out haha.

All I heard was a wurrr, two beeps then the disc flew out on to the carpet. Followed by plenty more beeps and wurr sounds as if the disc drive had another disc in it. I restarted it and then it's been fine since.

Just finished the game and it didn't crash once on me.

Must say I didn't like it as much as I was going through it as I did for the first couple hours. The climbing got boring with a lot of standing around looking for the next ledge you can reach. The combat felt uninspired but I suppose after 4 games it just didn't evolve much. The chase scenes seemed to rely somewhat on luck. Be in the wrong spot by an inch and get crushed and try again think previous games were the same way. Some of the characters weren't fleshed out enough IMO and just felt like they didn't know what direction to go. The ending though seemed fitting for everyone and I thought it was a great ending to the series. I did expect some type of supernatural aspect or maybe a big twist near he end that we never got. Seems they took the safe route for the story on that front which is fine. I just really wish a couple of the characters had more background and more of a role rather than to just be the nuisance that appears right before or right after you discover the next clue. The typical "how did all the bad guys get here to the super secret entrance before we did with a full compliment of armored trucks and equipment?" just felt tired and overused. Overall though i enjoyed it. Most of my gripes are nitpicking really. The game is high quality, not really on the same level of Last of Us in terms of story and making you care about the characters but it is still one of the better games to come out on the ps4 or any console really in the past couple years IMO.

The graphics and the sheer amount of details they put into this game seriously blows me away. The wrinkles in their shirts changes as you move, the way how when you get wet, your hair is actually dampened down, instead of just some lazy "wet shine". The way the vegetation moves around you, the foot prints in the sand, or how the vehicles leave their tire tracks... And when you first wake up on pirate island... Wow that was astounding. I thought rise of tom raider looked gorgeous in my PC at ultra settings, but this is just on its own level. Even when you get muddy, just go for a swim or go underneath a water fall and you'll get cleaned up!!

Though I am playing with a xim4, the combat is actually pretty fun... It's annoying how the bad guys avoid your "headshot" aim as well... I like how it differs from 1,2,3 in the sense that it humanized the characters: Nathan isn't all about just mindlessly hunting a treasure now. In fact, there's a scene in the game which I thought: yeah, that's the way I would've handled with my gf had I been in a similar situation lol.

I think I'm about midway through the game (chapter 12) and I only have one gripe. The driving controls just seem slow to respond and/or sloppy, which made a fairly long chase while driving feel more tedious than fun by the time I was done. It was a good action packed segment, but I didn't seem like we spent enough time driving by that point yet so having such a chase before I knew how the driving handled was a problem.

Enjoying the game a lot though. The story is fairly simple, but as we're basically playing an action movie I didn't expect anything else.

Yeah I think I know the part you're talking about and I felt the same way. I also didn't know that enemies are endless if you don't jump from vehicle to vehicle.
