Damnit, I really...really...really really want this game. Resisting the buy since I've got kids to buy Xmas gifts for and need to conserve funds til next year.

But damn, played the demo, and was totally hooked on it.

I thought this game was OK based on the Demo... but I've enjoyed being proven wrong.

This game is top notch in almost all aspects... the graphics are just gorgeous (on par with R+C) and the gameplay is excellent.

However... I am now waiting on Amazon to send me an exchange since something was wrong with my disc. It kept freezing at the same spot in the game so I couldn't go any further.....

I think the shooter aspect is the weakest part. You're the adventurer yet all these damn mercs seems to know how to find treasure better than you do, because they are always waiting to ambush you. And when you see tons of cover spots you know whats coming, but you cant avoid it or use your scaling abilities to get the drop on them. Well, I think one time you could after you went up river, but still, I hate knowing an ambush is coming and not be able to do anything about it. It could be because I expect the world to behave like Crackdown or Assassins Creed, but I find it very annoying. Also, if you dont shoot a guy a bunch of time in a certain interval, its almost as if his hit count resets. I wonder if the enemies have the same healing abilities as Drake. And why the hell do the mercs carry so little ammo? I hate managing ammo, and there are quite a few guns that I havent tried because there was no guarantee that there would be ammo around the corner.

But everything else is top notch. This is the best game I've played in awhile. I wish there were more puzzles and platforming, but whats in the game is done so well done I just cant stop playing. I normally dont like cinematics, but these are well done. The story is somewhat predictable, but in a good way, like you're participating in an Indiana Jones adventure. And even though I was complaining about the shootouts, once you get used to the cover system it can be fun. But dont rely on cover too much, as it seems enemies just respawn if you dont advance. The shotguns are awesome, and if you're running around you can take them out with minimal aiming. This game screams for the open world treatment. I would have loved just going from site to site, finding clues, solving archeological puzzles, and find treasure. I hope they release map packs or an expansion. Great game!

i only played the demo but thought this game was pretty awful. yeah it might look nice, but it's the same crap you've been through in a million other games, and the combat/shooting is awful. on another note i just started assassin's creed and it has me much more interested than drake's did.

Exactly. You havent played anywhere near the quality of what the retail game has. As others have said in the thread, they thought it was an "ok" game after playing the demo. The whole game is much, much better.

So sorry, but your opinion on the matter is moot.

I just read the Ars review for this game. Looks pretty darn cool. This is the first PS3 game to come out that actually made me wish I had a PS3.

If there's an under-rated game out on the market today, it's Uncharted. From beginning to end this title is one of the rare gems that matches excellent gameplay with an excellent story AND an excellent engine.

- Gameplay... good mix of gun shooting while taking cover, melee action, treasure hunting, mild platforming and puzzle solving. The driving / water craft sequences are just the cherry on top. I'm going through it a second time on "Crushing" difficulty and props to the designers for making great A.I. even BETTER when taking on the challenge. Yes you take less damage, but the enemies flank and flush you out even better than Hard mode (which all gaming veterans should play first).

- Story... The main characters are instantly appealling and remain so throughout this well told (if not predictable) tale of treasure, fame and glory. The voice acting (for the main three anyway) is top tier, and the cinematics are both brief and entertaining, never getting in the way of gameplay. If you have a spouse that doesn't like games all that much, don't be surprised if she gets hooked on the story as it unfolds (mine did).

- Engine... Crisp graphics, well designed character models, (mostly) detailed textures, amazing and varied animation combined with a smooth frame rate and beautiful aesthetic art design make this a contender for best console graphics of all time. The demo alone doesn't fully represent how great everything looks. Mild tearing exists, but doesn't detract from the game overall in the least.

Cheers to Naughty Dog for the home run with this one. Easily a 9.6/10 IMHO. I'm reading some disappointment over in the Assassin's Creed thread... some of you may want to check this title out to see if it fills that void.

Ya, I never mentioned this earlier in the thread, but my wife actually sat and watched me play it for quite a while, and she never does that. Usually when I turn on a console, she leaves the room, but on two different occassions she walked in and sat down to watch me play for a while.

The full game has even better visuals in various areas that are of a greater variety too. There is a lot more platforming, vehicle riding, and treasure hunting involved, as well as a few puzzles sequences.

holy crap i played through the first 3 missions. this game is amazing! it kind of sucks though tthat this exploration stuff doesn't stick the whole time. i loved going through the caves and temples or wherever the hell i was.

grahics are top notch. this is one of the best looking console games, if not THE best looking game, that i've ever played. the vsync tearing really pisses me off but I try to ignore it cause it just looks so sweet in general.

i have ratchet, motorstorm, and resistance. i like them all, but ratchet is phenemonal.

This game is top notch, holy crap. I'm having so much fun playing through it.

The tearing in some of the mid-levels around the jet skiing and when you are going on the land around that level is pretty bad it actually gave me a headache heh. But I still couldn't put it down.

There probably won't be much replay value but I don't really care because I expected that. This is a must play thorugh atleast once if you have a ps3.
