To everything - turn, turn, turn
There is a season - turn, turn, turn
And a time for every purpose under heaven

A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep

Man this show is terrible. It's in the 'so bad that it's good category.'

The amount of things that the writers just expect the viewer to accept as "just because" are too many to count. No one on the show has an ounce of rational thought, it's like every character is written to be borderline senile. The science vs faith debate is tired and poorly integrated with the highschool level script. Big Jim is pretty much a serial killer and no one really cares. Sam killed a 15 year old girl and no one cares. Barbie and Julia are together but less than 3 weeks before Barbie killed her husband? The whole timeline is way too condensed. There is no plan for where this show is going, I don't even think the writers know. The book has to be better than this crap.

Tonight is either the season or series finale, as it hasn't been either renewed or cancelled.

Will they escape before the dome crushes them to death?

How can all of this have occurred in supposedly less than 4 weeks?

When the temperature dropped to freezing why weren't any of those folks wearing their winter gear? The show is set in northern New England, not Florida.

How does Barbie go from murderer to hero?

How much is Toyota paying for those ridiculous product placement plugs for Prius?

I liked Season 1, but the first two episodes of Season 2 lost me. The writers forgot their own material and lost any semblance of consistency.

Lol, the old knife in the foot trick. So dumb. I also like how jim was only slightly behind junior even though junior was running and jim was limping. Then that hole looked endless from up top but once they went inside it was only like 10 feet deep and light went all the way down to the floor. And then when that break in the floor started, the floor was only like an inch thick? Adding to that, it looked like Julia could have climbed along the wall on the 1 side as it looked like there was a ledge.

Sigh...I had such high hopes for this show. It seemed to be a cool concept. Maybe with a better writer and director.

Kinda surprised they renewed it. On the other hand, what else is on during the summer... Master Chef?

They should really start shifting other shows to run a 13 episode season in the summer. Why the eff do I have to choose between 20 different shows during the fall/spring season...

Renewed for next summer.

Oh thank good. The way they ended season two I was like it can't end like that! I watched all of season one and season two for that ending? No fucking way. There's just too much to be answered and the
aliens haven't really explained themselves.

Two hour season premiere tonight at 9/8c on CBS.

Between The Last Ship and The Strain this summer is epic!

Is this third season still going on from the book? I read it years ago and can't believe they are making 3 seasons from it.

Why do they do this every freaking time?
It is like all the writers took the same class, and they can't think of anything new anymore.

John, I knew you were going to jinx it.

You have had to watch the first episode all the way till now to really appreciate what is going on.

Full disclosure, I slept when it came on. Now I have to watch it on the Internet from a legal source I suppose.

Watched the finale, the 2nd season also started out very weird and I didn't like it, kinda feel the same here but it's a little more intriguing at least. I guess I'm OK with the direction so long as we get a explanation of the dome finally, which previews state pretty boldly will happen in the next episode, we'll see.

It's dead Jim.

Totally unsalvageable. I stopped watching helix when they pulled this same crap. It's like you're driving a car and suddenly you grab the steering wheel and YANK it into a 90 degree skid. Your passengers get whiplash.

Sorry, but a coherent story is a requirement, and this just turned into a shitty version of Lost, which was also a shitty show.

These are so formulaic it's sick. TV has turned into Pop music where they just keep filling in the blanks of a madlib book to make songs. Specific beat, chorus x number of times, etc. Hey, let's have 22 flashbacks in a 2 hour season premier and jump around SO much between plot lines that you lose track if you step out to take a dump. That isn't TV folks.

The Last Ship wasn't bad at all. They didn't slam on the brakes and change directions completely and their writers evidently aren't on heroin.

Helix didn't really have anywhere to go after season 1. They nuked the research facility so the story had to pick up someplace else. But I agree that fucked it up. Having 2 time lines was a great idea but the execution sucked ass. Viewers seem to have agreed since the show has been canceled.

Getting back on point, I could barely remember any of the people from last year. This trend toward having multiple half season series might be good in some cases if they focus on the quality of the product, but while you get that sometimes with shows like Z nation, Mad Men, etc, a lot of times you just get the same old shit tossed in a blender with some flavoring added and served up as the cure for boring television when in fact we know what it really is.

The idea of being in a computer created reality is an old trope. Even before the Matrix you had different manifestations of the same idea. A character would really be in a coma or even dead and revealing that was the big twist at the end. So I don't really have a problem with the writers introducing this as a means of changing the personalities of different characters and adding a few new ones. I'm just grateful that they limited, apparently anyway, to the season premiere and didn't try to milk it for a half dozen episodes.

The alternative is that you end up getting something like a soap opera that shows how characters evolve. Boring ass shit in my opinion. This is one way to short circuit that bs and get back to the science fiction.

But we'll see if any of these changes really reinvigorate the show or if they go the route of LOST and just keeping thowing out bizarre shit to see what sticks with no hope of ever having a real denouement.

It's grabbing from Matrix, Lost, Invasion of the body snatchers... and really has done almost nothing to make sense. For example, it can't do anything about all these people finding their way to the pods? It can alter the hair of all the people in the town but not change their face from the same face? Etc.

Just started watching tonight's episode but wanted to comment on the commercials. You can always tell the target audience for a show by watching the commercials. I only caught the first and last during the first break and they were for 'absorbent underwear' for women and Magic Mike XXL

Draw your own conclusions. I'm still watching though.
