Underclocking a Llano: is this a feature or a bug?

I'm currently engaged in tuning an A6-3500 Llano APU (2.1 ghz/2.4 turbo) for HTPC use via network streaming. I would like it to run as quietly as possible so I'm underclocking/undervolting it.

The thing is, when I drop the multiplier back to x17 (at 100 bus speed for 1.7 ghz) the CPU speed stays maxed at 1700 at all times, even when the system is idle. The outcome is that my temps aren't nearly as cool as I'd like. When it's at its default speed the CPU speed drops back to 700 mhz when idling (or sometimes 1400).

Is this a feature or a bug? Or am I doing something wrong?

Most likely you're locking the multiplier at a set value, preventing Cool&Quiet from kicking in. In that case, try changing BCLK to lower values while undervolting, instead of messing with multiplier.

BCLK is the bus speed?

does cpuz read the speed correctly is something i wonder about for mine. with cpuz i see mine at the max speed however at a low idle voltage which is fine for me as long as it dont crash giggles

Leave everything enabled in bios and use windows 7 power features to limit max cpu speed.
go to power setting
change plan settings
advanced settings
adjust max proc state to 60%

It doesn't allow me to set it under 100. I can go over but not under.

looks like there are a lot of K10 Stat download sites out there and my link scanner is saying some are seedy. Anyone know a safe one?
