Undergrade & other questions... please...

I´ve just purchased new computer with a p3v4x mobo but I did not put my hands on it yet... I don´t know which bios version will come with it... My question is: if the bios version is 1005, can I undergrade it to v.1003? Is it dangerous? I saw many people complaining about the 1005 bios...

Another thing: Do I really have to tweak EVERYTHING in my computer to get a good performance with this mobo? And if I run it under the mobo/cpu/ram/video card specs?

How far can I oc a P3 800EB in p3v4x?

What about the "coolling the clock generator" stuff"?

You can downgrade the BIOS, shouldn't be a problem. So long as you follow the regular procedure.

A p3 800EB is not a good overclocker unfortunately, this is because it runs on the 133 Mhz FSB from the beginning. Something which leads to very little headroom when you want to tweak. Cooling the clock generator is usually good when trying to get the board stable at 140 Mhz+ FSB. This may be where you're heading with that CPU, so I'd look further into the matter.

About the overclock, do you know if this new revision of the mobo (winbond/16 FSBs) has the 140FSB?

Mcbiff is right, downgrading is not a problem. As far as I know, there are two revisions of the clock generator so you may get one that doesn't need extra cooling.

Overclocking in your case will most likely be ram limited, having 2 dimm slots occupied will reduce stability when overclocked.
The via133a boards run fine without tweaking with the exception of memory bandwith. A bios update with memory interweaving will increase your sisoft scores dramtically.

Which one of the revisions DOES NOT need the extra cooling?

One more:
Do you really think that altering the memory interweaving can boost a bit the OVERALL computer performance? Not the memory alone...
