I just watched Event Horizon again the other day and remember how much I liked it.

It did pretty poorly at the box office and you never really hear about it, but I love it and consider it underrated!

So I'm wondering what other underrated movies are out there!?

KT

PS: I searched through OT, but most of the movie threads are only about best/worst, oh and the sideboob thread.

Edit: compiled the list.

Black Hawk Down

Not enough people realize it is the greatest movie ever made, actually the best thing ever made.

Imposter - with Gary Sinise. Sci-Fi from another Philip Dick short story. Blade Runner, Minority Report and Total recall were also made from Philip Dick stories for those that didn't know.

The did a perfect job of creating a goofy world and then having the characters take the world completely seriously. Monty Python would approve.

Mine:

Tank Girl

Lori Petty, Naomi Watts (much cuter as a brunette), Malcom McDowell, good times.

Agree with Zoolander.

Have never seen Black Hawk Down, Platoon was one always one of my favourites.

I really like Minority report as well, which surprised me.

I liked Hoodwinked, but it didn't do so well, and I don't think the critics cared for it much.

Hoodwinked 2 is on the way.

Lol, you have to love when a movie gets panned and does not make a lot of money, yet they make a sequel anyway.

yah, it is hilarious as a gamer, and beerfest is hilarious as an alcoholic. oops. I gave that up too easily, but seriously every time I watch beerfest I can't help but drink. I guess Pavlov had it right.

The book is the best thing in the world, made or natural, the movie is only second to the book.

Also Beerfest sucked.

Fake Purse Ninja's

Oh wait that wasn't made, but for comedy I vote for Bowfinger. It poked fun at Hollywood, and everyone in front and behind the cameras.

Eddie Murphy had two great roles in the movie, one a cult following mega-star and the other as his overly nerdy brother. Steve Martin was an Ed Wood type B movie director who decides to have Murphy star in his movie, without Murphy even knowing it.

Good laughs

One of my fave things about Grandma's Boy is that my fiancee thinks it's hilarious, and she isn't even into video games.

Ya, Zoolander was pretty good, I still think the sex scene was out of place in it, but overall a really funny movie.

One movie that wasn't mentioned, probably because it is Hated by all, is Battlefield Earth. Ya, it was over hyped and the marketing gave a completely wrong impression of the movie(that of being huge battles and whatnot), by itself it is a decent movie. I haven't read the book either, so maybe the movie has nothing to do with the story in the book and if it's not, then I can understand why people hate the movie. I just think that one needs to forget all the stuff leading up to the movie and view it for what it is rather than what one expects it to be.

[puts on flame suit and waits for the deluge!]

It was reported to have had a budget of $15 - $20 million, depending on the source. Hoodwinked 2 should have a budget twice that.
Shrek had a budget of $60 million.

Total gross: $109.5 million

It's profitable, so they might as well go for a second one.
