Serpent in the Staglands
Grim Dawn
Lords of Xulima
Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms
Age of Decadence

Lords of Xulima, love and hate.. I cant clear the rat cave without getting one shotted on at least on character. I have saved went in and killed, went out to camp, and in, always one battle a character gets one shot killed when they all start with full health. I get it, old school hardcore, but I tried like 12 times and called it. I will go back as it does look like it needs some love for the game it is.

I can't get enough of this game. I have 873875610735070913613 hours into it, over and over and over trying to build a factory city that automates everything in just the right way with leftover products for all items created.

It's like crack. It's like heroine. It's like meth. I can't not play this game.

You start with a stone furnace and a fuel-burning extractor and enough raw materials to build a hand tool. Your objective is to build and upgrade until everything is built and upgraded and everything that you need built is being built by automated factories with all the appropriate raw materials being fed into them fast enough to keep them working...

...all while surviving the assault of BAD GUYS! D:

I might have to give this a try. I don't care for the art style.. it's slightly too dated looking but I think I might be able to forgive that.

Given I was the person who had to make sure his city was set up JUST right in SIM city, this looks right up my alley...thanks!

Let me know if you have any questions. We might need to start our own thread over it, though. The meta is mind boggling.

yes its worth a look for sure if you enjoy RPG's, don't take my bitching as bad, its, as stated old school, you wont get by with button clicking and the fights are all "fights", as I am only scratching the surface I cant say later, but it seems you wont ever just 'do the motions" to win a battle, well not many at least. I think my Rat cave runs are just peru bad luck and random number generator issues.. Or i need more meat up front and am trying the jack of all trades, master of none party.

I like Grim Dawn, although I find myself playing Path of Exile more often.

GD is basically TQ; you'll be instantly familiar with it if you played TQ, with the multiple piece charm item drops, and two classes for a build setup. I put in 70 hours before a lot of content was even added.

Right now the level cap is a measly 35, with a very tough dungeon being end game (for now). I'm waiting til more is added before I play again.

I have to say Darkest Dungeon has been taking tens of hours of my time since it came out.

Fantastic game, very very fun!

Found another forgotten gem in my backlog, Mafia 2. Spent the weekend playing it. There are some annoyances and it doesn't quite match the prequel but it's good. Quite a good looking game and performs well too.

I'm playing King Arthur: The Roleplaying Wargame. It's an oldie but good mix of RPG with RTS. Your goal is to unite Britannia with the help of your trusted knights. With plenty of quests that you can solve via battle, magic or diplomacy, plenty of different units, spells, abilities to use in combat, this game is very entertaining.

darkest dungeon does look pretty cool but it's still early access and I don't want to buy any more early access games.

Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead
Found it about 2 weeks ago. This open source roguelike is the result of a kickstarter after the original developer quit. As a relatively "new" game though already polished it is still being developed heavily.

Modern setting. Zombie Apocalypse. The character can fight using anything from Karate chop (unarmed skill), M4 carbine (rifle skill), cast Chain Lightning (bionics) or stole a military id and access a missile silo to rain down some nuke on the zombie horde. It also has a very comprehensive crafting system. Being able to create your own vehicle is quite wonderful.

All in all the roguelike feels very modern (graphical tiles, source code provided in a nice package making it easy to hack and compile, wiki, modern UI, etc) which goes a long way to make life easy for the players.

Sunless Sea
It received a 10/10 from Eurogamer which caught my attention. An amalgamation of choose-your-own-story, naval exploration and roguelike elements. The setting is very unique (Fallen London setting) and the writing is good. The gameplay is quite suspect however. There are lots of tedium during travel, so much so that I actually just watch a movie when travelling. It still is very unique and probably worth the price of admission for that alone. I'd give it an 8/10. Pretty cheap on Steam.

Just like Cataclysm DDA, Sunless Sea is still being heavily developed. A large patch is coming today.

Divinity 2. Played it last spring and it was every bit as enjoyable as Skyrim.
Divinity II is good, but there are so many console bits that can't can't be undone, even before considering the game as purchased is the entirety of the experience. I can't say I felt ripped off or anything, but it was a let-down. Surprisingly stable, for having Divinity in the title, though.

Oooo....not much of an Early Access type, myself, but I'll keep watch on this one.

Aside from what's been mentioned already, all I have right now is:
Stonekeep (remake)

i recently got sunless sea. it's different to say the least. the travel is very boring and tedius. there's really no story to it and it's kind of difficult.

Agreed on the travel.
There are a lot of stories though. Interesting ones as well. Gaiman-esque and Lovecraftian as some have described them. Unfortunately clunky mechanics and useless tutorial makes them hard to uncover.

Basically when you visit a port you get an event / story snippet if you have the "Something Awaits You" aka SAY event which is gained by sailing for a minute or so. Likewise you need the SAY to advance the storyline. Basically a crutch mechanic to ensure you dont exhaust the port storyline in one visit.

These days I will probably just let my ship drift near the port until the event fires and dock the port again.
