Unhappy campers at the Grand Canyon

Grand Canyon temporarily closed all south rim hotels and cut water to the campgrounds just before Labor Day weekend. The water system for the canyon has a pipe from Roaring Spring on the north side of the canyon down and across the canyon and back up to the south rim to supply water for everything. The pipe is older than the Rolling Stones and broke in four places. The Park Service has started to replace the pipe, expected to be complete in 2027.

Which week? Some of his infrastructure weeks did include this problem to be addressed; other infrastructure weeks were focused on thing to get a McDonald’s built across the street from the WH.

I’ll let you guess which type of plans he was more concerned about…

The pipe has a long history of breaking. They have water storage on both sides so they can run a while without the pipe.

I am not sure how it's designed, but I don't think they reduce the pressure on the way down or pump it back up. If that is true, the water pressure at the bottom is somewhere around 2700 psi, or about the same pressure as the hydraulic system on a commercial aircraft.
