hey all,

I know there have been a lot of Uniden posts here from Outpost..but I didn't see this one after searching (sorry if it's a repost)

Saw this mislabeled at Outpost.com:

Uniden ENR1540 10/100Mbps 4 Port Ethernet Router $9.99 After Mail In Rebate
$20.00 Rebate

It's actually the ENR1504, and it's only $20, which, after rebate is Free! (+ Shipping)

Well, I honestly have *no* idea..but for FAR, I guess you can't go too bad for a basic setup.

I've got the router, the wireless AP, and now i just need to get a decent print server, 802.11b PCI card, and an 802.11b PCMCIA card and then I'm good to go!

I'd also be curious to hear of other's experiences with Uniden products...

I ordered this router, printed out the rebate form, and received the router in the mail.
Problem is the rebate says send in the UPC from the product box , but it came in a blister pack and I dont see a UPC barcode anywhere.

Any ideas ?

Is this a rip or what ?

The UPC is on one of the pieces of cardboard inside the blister pack. It should be visible from the backside, just under where the router sits in the middle.

I picked up one the other day to check performance when using VoIP. It was pretty choppy, bits of silence, lag, etc. Much better performance out of my Netgear RP614v1. VoIP aside, it worked just fine for normal internet use, and I was able to get the same 3000/128 speed tests on it. For free + shipping, it's definitely a good deal, though I'll probably just keep it around as an emergency backup if my Netgear goes out.

I'm gonna grab one now. My Dad needs a router since my brother took his when he moved out. Can't go wrong, he has nothing right now.

tm, PM me please, I have some Questions on your VoIP you are using...

Thanks tm

Man... I had to dig in the trash to find it. Does anyone know if Uniden has a positive
history of honoring rebates ?

Ya' win some and ya' lose some.
FWIW: I've decided it is worth the $6.26 S&H gamble - I have ordered one.

Uniden 1504 thread at www.BroadBandReports.com

According to the thread, Uniden tech support clueless.
Actual MFR: Delta Networks, model DR-E640
Also sold as NetGear RP614 v2.

No firmware hack, yet, to allow use of (more up to date?) NetGear firmware.

So, for $6 S&H, YMMV?

Ya' pays yer' money and ya' takes yer' chances.

Okay, I'm confused. When I try to order one, the price during checkout is $29.99. But part of the items description states "$0.00 After Mail In Rebate. While Supplies Last."

Can someone help?

They play these price games all the time.

apparently, they've gone and raised the price now..soo...I'm afraid you missed out. But don't worry..I'm sure they'll do this sort of thing again.....

Someone said that it will not spoof a MAC address that Comcast does require. Others have said it does work OK.

Anyone out there have it working on Comcast, or other ISP's that do require that you Spoof or Clone the MAC of the cable modem?

TIA

OK, price is back to $20 with $7.21 shipping. That is a lot for shipping! But the person on dslreports who had the spoofing issue said it is now fixed in the latest f/w from the Uniden site.

I decided this might be a good deal. With 2nd day air and tax, my cost was around $29, $9 after rebate. I've had pretty good luck with the Miami rebate office.

I've setup four routers with three different Comcast cable modems and I never had to set MAC spoofing. In fact all four times the configuration was totally automatic. The only thing I did with the router was change the default password. Everything else was set to automatic, which was the default.

Mine didn't have any problems spoofing my MAC and its been working fine well till my cable modem took a crap on me today . Damn cable modem always goes down at the best of times. I am in the middle of putting together two computer and need to be able to download crap. I will have to download everything here at work and burn it to a CD incase it isn't back up when I get home.

Didn't you at least have to tell the router to show the Computer Name they give you like C15xxxx-A?

In Seattle at least, you don't have to do anything with your computer or router but set them to DHCP auto IP. This has worked with my old RCA cable modem, an old 3COM cable modem and two of the latest Motorola, at four different locations. I just got the Uniden today plugged it in to my modem, plugged into my computer and it worked. I didn't even have to reboot my computer or reset the NIC. All I did was change the router password and update the firmware.

Provided the rebate comes through, this is a very good deal. Nice looking router with a cool blue power light instead of the boring green.

My RCA cable modem is almost three years old and still works great.

Great, I will just try that. I am in Portland, Oregon, so we should have the same setup. I printed the rebate as I do not like the way the offer reads on rebateshq.

I just set this router up with MSN DSL and it works good. I was using the notorious Arescom 800 DSL modem which is really a router and modem built into one. However the router part of the MSN modem limits connection to only one computer. Unfortunately the IP address range the DSL modem is the same as the IP address range for almost all routers, which is: 192.168.1.1. So the WAN part of the router was trying to be a router on the same IP range as the DSL modem. This won't work. So I set the LAN part of the uniden router to a different IP range, 192.192.192.1. After this it worked fine. In fact I think the Internet is faster using the router. So the gist is, I've tried this with both DSL and cable and it worked good. Not sure about the PPPOE, but that is supposed to work just fine.
