That is 46% faster, which is about what we are expecting. I had a pretty solid 670, but this is a good bit faster WITH the reference-style blower... My CPU temps are now a good 6-7C cooler now too.

there is no such thing as reference 970 cooler. heck there is no such thing as a reference 970 at all. not sure why you would even call that cooler a reference cooler anyway.

It's a blower. It looks pretty much the same as a standard NV reference card design.

looks like a combination of the 680 cooler and a VHS tape.

That is a fine result. With similar o/c on gtx 970 I'm showing 62.7fps for same settings. So 16fps faster or about 24%.

The first is overclocked Crossfired HD 6950's, the second is MSI 970 Gaming at default settings.

lolwut? how do you figure? in post #778 in this thread a pair of watercooled R9 290x in CF scored 5100. my 2x gtx 970 SLI aircooled scored 4450 in the post right above yours. and that's without even volt modding. i can actually get higher scores if i wanted to but i settled on the highest clock speeds that yielded absolutely ZERO artifacts or stuttering. if i ever find the balls to volt mod i'd smoke those 290x cards

don't forget that 290x still costs $400 while the GTX 970 can be picked up for $330.

i see that some people's scores here are a lot lower than they should be. i'm guessing someone was doing something wrong. maybe setting memory or core speeds faster than the card can handle, causing instability and lower results. i actually had that issue, once i lowered the memory offset from +440 to +400 my scores went up.

excuse my french but on what f*****g planet? check out post #784. pair of HD 7970 scored 2885. i guess you think that 2885 is a larger number than 4450? idiot. i get a score of over 3000 with JUST ONE GTX 970.

then in post #795 a pair of 280x (overclocked HD 7970 GHz edition) scored 3250, which is about what i get with a single GTX 970.

i'll leave you with this picture to make you feel stupid, 2x stock GTX 970 running on par with an R9 295X at 2/3 the price, half the power draw and immature drivers:

I run the amd-catalyst-14.6-rc2-windows-june23 display Dvr
because the latest AMD 14.9 WHQL Dvr sucks on my platform.

Humm! I see AMD have released a 14.9.1 Beta Dvr.
Think I will wait for at least an RC.

#3 BENCHING: 1105 X 1500 X 150 X 50 VALLEY 1080p SCORE 5116
1440p SCORE 3449

HEAVEN 1080p SCORE 2906
1440p SCORE 1826

I can do 1200 X 1500 X 162 X 50 with TRIXX and SCORE approx 5200 in VALLEY 1080p
and approx 3200 in HEAVEN at 1080p but I get Artifacts.

I imagine if I configured each Card separately I could go higher without
artifacts as I know one card is weaker then the other but I'm happy with this.

Hope this Info Helps some of you with configuring your X-Fire R9 290/X GPU's
for Gaming and Benching

I imagine not all platform configurations will OC the GPU's the same as mine but I believe my results will give you and idea on how X-Fire R9 290X's will scale under water with conservative OC'g and Not Artifact.

PS: Stupid Elpida vRam seems to take a +0.143mV to get it to 1500Mhz!

Well I weakened and loaded the latest AMD 14.9.1b Dvr and it seems to be working on my system.
I did increase Unigine Bench scores some what; for instance, 1080p Valley from 5116 to 5139 with an 1105/1500 OC.

Valley hates 4-Way SLI. The score would be higher with 3-Way.

What is Valley reporting, a higher or lower clock speed on the 900 series and by about how much? How long before this will be corrected do you think by Unigine in your opinion?
