What is Valley reporting, a higher or lower clock speed on the 900 series and by about how much? How long before this will be corrected do you think by Unigine in your opinion?

TIA

For all NVIDIA video cards that use any iteration of GPU Boost, the clock speeds will always be reported as a higher frequency than actual. Not sure if it will be corrected or not?

This.

Also - keep in mind I can OC my card +500mhz and say it's '1734Mhz' but unless it runs at that, it's a misnomer. You have to check your logs for the actual speed it is running...I am sure I could crank-up my fan speed to 100% and get another 100mhz, but that's just silly IMHO.

F2F - will upload the full screenshot when I get home. System specs are as follows:
-4670k @ 4.0ghz
-EVGA SC (blower) GTX 970 @1501/7780; 109% power target.

Ok wait a minute here Just so I am clear on this, when I over clocked my GTX 770 MSI Gaming card with PX (1288/1880)if I remeber correctly I could have sworn both MSI AB OSD while gaming in BF4 and Valley reported these exact same boost clocks. So are you saying those were not the actual in boost clocks (valley & BF4)and they were really lower then both were reporting?

Edit: unless I am thinking of or it was MSI AB & Heaven clocks and not Valley.

I have seen some cards report correct clock speeds from time to time, but it doesn't happen often (Modded BIOS?). If you search throughout this thread you will see Valley reports a much higher core clock than actual on NVIDIA's GPU Boost cards. It's always best to use another program to confirm, so there's no question.

Ok thanks for the info and I will scroll back thought this thread.

Now that I think about it, those were more than likely cards using SKYN3T's BIOS. GPU Boost is disabled using his BIOS.
I will have to check on my own card :\ I've been using the stock Lightning BIOS for awhile now.

F2F one last question, does Heaven report the correct boost clock on Nvidia cards?
Also post back on your findings after testing your card clocks with the stock BIOS.

Heaven is also not reliable. Nvidia cards are pretty far off. My 295x2 was the worst. It showed like 50000 MHZ. Open GPUZ and turn on logging. Not only will it give you accurate results but you can use those results to improve your scores. Say you crash out, then you can go back and look, did your temp spike, were you at the voltage limit(add volts), did your amperage exceed your PSU capabilities, maybe your not getting max boost but your at your Power limit (increase power limit or new bios). Logging is great for tweaking your OC.

Sohaltang, I tested my Tri-X 290 and overclocked it in Trixx to 1225/1550, 1200/1550 and 1175/1550 and tested each of those those in Heaven and Heaven reported the correct exact overclocks for each overclock, so for me Heaven reports exact correct overclocks that I set/oc to in Trixx.

That is cool but does it match the gpuz log? Even if your max boost is showing up right does not mean the card is actually running at those clocks. With heat an power throttling a card it could display 1200mhz and still run at 1000 or less.

Sohaltang, I ran Heaven for you to see and took a few screen shots for you below, I overclocked my Tri -X 290 to 1225/1550 ran Heaven and logged it while Heaven was running.

@ F2F I will remove these images tomorrow, sorry about the kind of OT per Heaven

What temp did you end up at? Its not really where you start. Temp jumped almost 30c and rising 2:30 into heaven. What point does your card throttle?

Sohaltang, The highest temp I got was 73F running Heaven at 1225/1550 fan set at 100% as seen in the log above. the whole log looked just like you see it in those 3 screen shots and its not a long log in GPUz. It does not match to how long Heaven runs. I also ran MSI AB with MSI AB graph open on my 2nd monitor along with logging it and watched the graph (clocks & temps) the whole time while Heaven was running clocked at 1225/1550. I saw maybe 5 quick dips/spikes less than a second to a second long though out the whole run ( otherwise it stayed flat lined at 1225/1550) on my second monitor in Heaven on the MSI AB graph opened on the second monitor. The max temps I saw on MSI AB graph was 74F on this run.

I added a screenshot here for you of the end of the run per above logged in MSI AB.

clocks
5960x@4.4ghz
780's X3 @ 1136core 1552 mem

I can easily get more out of the cards and cpu I will be back with a higher score when I have a little time to play.

With 100% fan the top card was under 70c. I didn't play with the unofficial voltages but don't think i'll bother unless there's some easy reasons too. Really scored a golden goose with this CPU

Does disabling hyperthreading help your score? I have same chip.

CPU @ 4500 still same as before on the GPU speeds. For some strange reason my score goes down when I use xprecision to overclock the cards more..

GPU's @780's X3 @ 1136core 1552 mem
