Hey guys, I've been using Mozilla Firefox 0.9 recently and I really like it. I've set it as my default browser although when I'm reading emails and I click a link (for instance, email notifications for forums) IE6.0 opens up. I don't need IE anymore so I was wondering if there is a way to uninstall it. Ive tried add/remove programs with no luck.

Thanks!

Yes, there is a way. It's called RE-Installing WINDOWS!!

(less thread sh!t response:

since you can't get rid of it, you can go into Internet Options in the control panel, and set your browser to default to Mozilla.)

Uninstalling IE is not a good idea.. it's so integrated with windows that you might break the whole OS if you remove IE.. plus you cannot use windows update through any other browsers than IE

you can't uninstall IE in windows xp. it's pretty much integrated with windows explorer. hence, using a windows explorer screen and typing in a URL, you will automatically open the page with IE. Even if you "uninstall" it using add/remove windows components, it will still be on your computer. downgrade to 2k and you can uninstall it completely.

Control Panel ---> Add/Remove Programs ---> Add/Remove Windows Components ----> Check IE ----> click next ----> done.

You don't know what your talking about dude!!

Sure you can click on all of these, and stuff does happen. But all that occurs is that XP will remove the item from the List of installed software in the Control Panel. Its still on your damn PC!

Typing an URL in the Exploer/My Computer address bar opens the URL in the Exploer/My Computer Window, that is how integrated IE is into the OS. Windows 2000 is the same. If you "uninstall" IE all you are doing is removing the shortcut. IE is integrated into every Windows OS since Windows 95 (more and more as new versions were released).

Yea I assumed that was the case since there is still an IE folder in my program files, but I like to have it out of the way so I never get tempted to use it and also so noone who uses my pc will be able to use it.
