I expect we'll see more of this, you know as they were encouraged to "get bloody in the streets" and "take them out".

http://www.kptv.com/story/15418537/longshoremen-storm-wash-state-port-damage-rr

LONGVIEW, WA (KPTV) -

Hundreds of Longshoremen stormed the Port of Longview early Thursday, overpowered and held security guards, damaged railroad cars, and dumped grain that is the center of a labor dispute, said Longview Police Chief Jim Duscha.
"We're not surprised," Duscha said. "A lot of the protesters were telling us this in only the start."
The train was the first grain shipment to arrive at Longview. It arrived Wednesday night after police arrested 19 demonstrators who tried to block the tracks. They were led by ILWU International President Robert McEllrath, who said they would return.

The blockade appeared to defy a federal restraining order issued last week against the union after it was accused of assaults and death threats.

Just as you can count on Dave for a post as to the stock market crashing/gas prices going through the roof/sky is falling, you can always count on spidey for a thread on how union thugs are going to beat us all in our beds unless "we the people" rise up with our guns.

Thump: so what part of the article or Spidey's comments do you disagree with? The union thuggery on display is a matter of fact.

Way to rationalize, troll. Speak to the topic or stfu. Mob violence is reprehensible, regardless of the mob.

I seem to have upset this union bashing thread. You boys have very thin skin.

Spidey is always trying to make the point that unions are the epitomy of evil by posting each and every such story he finds. There are millions of union members in the USA, but to him they are all thugs and unions should be made illegal. Even his original post "get bloody in the streets" is a gross misrepresentation of Hoffa's Labor Day speech.

I personally don't jump to conclusions until there has been a conviction in court. That is, after all, the American way-something you syncopants may not be familiar with.

The union probably outsourced the thuggery. :awe:
Nah, outsourcing thuggery is a violation of the union bylaws.

Seriously though, this is less an indication that all unions are evil and more an indication that this particular union is comprised of individuals who think violence is an appopriate way to get your point across. My mother's been in a union her whole life, and I don't remember her ever rioting in the streets or sending out death threats... Maybe she's overdue. But you're painting with a pretty broad brush if you're using an isolated example of one union going crazy to paint all unions as mindless goons.

Longview isn't too terribly far from me... Maybe I can swing up that way and see the show.

Violence is never an appropriate response. However it's funny that this is actually the "we the people" that spidey is always cheerleading. The union members are actually more like the average person. They aren't wealthy, they're an average working person, and they join a union to protect their workers rights from the corporatocracy that the far right wants to have. This is the actual we the people, the actual people getting screwed over. Not the rich 1 percenters that people like spidey wants to protect. And the reason you have these type of people resort to violence is that unlike the rich people spidey and the Tea Party looney tunes want to help, these union members are actually in need and hurt by conservative policies. Not the made up bullshit spidey would like you to believe affects the upper 1% that the right is protecting.

Actually in this case the union was too expensive and they went with somebody else. Free market capitalism in action, that's a good thing. Guess you didn't read the article or have any idea what this story is about and resorted to the insane mind of a liberal regardless of facts and devoid any common sense.

These aren't teachers and janitors. These are longshoremen. The last of the old time style unions. It amazes me how upset people get about orgainizations that have so little influence on anything anymore.

Must be a guilty conscience about getting those 8 hours a day, saturdays off, safety in the work place, nah they don't even realize where they came from and how they got them.

When you commit acts of terrorism against railways/cars you deserve whatever you get. They freaking cut the brake lines of trains. That's a serious federal crime.

They are also disobeying a federal restraining order saying to keep away because of their death threats and assaults. They are breaking the law just by being there.

Another reason why we should outsource to China - their people are broken and beaten. Not like these uppity American workers!

People who individually commit crimes should be dealt with individually by the legal system appropriate for the nature of the crime. Not quite what you seemed to imply with your post or your photo now is it?

I find this post ironic as LEOs are unionized and collectively bargain. So, your answer to union thuggery is to bring other union members to police them. Do you consider the cops evil union thugs as well?

I'd agree that this particular incident is totally unacceptable. But I'd disagree with the argument that you and spidey are making that this is representative of union behavior in general. "Proof by example" has never been a very convincing argument...
