Mr. Tom Ellis, President
Marshall & Ilsley Corporation
770 N. Water Street
Milwaukee, WI 53202
SENT VIA FASCIMILE AND REGULAR MAIL
Dear Mr. Ellis:
As you undoubtedly know, Governor Walker recently proposed a “budget
adjustment bill” to eviscerate public employees’ right to collectively bargain in
Wisconsin. ..

As you also know, Scott Walker did not campaign on this issue when he ran for
office. If he had, we are confident that you would not be listed among his largest
contributors. As such, we are contacting you now to request your support.

The undersigned groups would like your company to publicly oppose Governor
Walker’s efforts to virtually eliminate collective bargaining for public employees in
Wisconsin. While we appreciate that you may need some time to consider this
request, we ask for your response by March 17. In the event that you do not
respond to this request by that date, we will assume that you stand with
Governor Walker and against the teachers, nurses, police officers, fire fighters,
and other dedicated public employees who serve our communities.

In the event that you cannot support this effort to save collective bargaining,
please be advised that the undersigned will publicly and formally boycott the
goods and services provided by your company. However, if you join us, we will
do everything in our power to publicly celebrate your partnership in the fight to
preserve the right of public employees to be heard at the bargaining table.
Wisconsin’s public employee unions serve to protect and promote equality and
fairness in the workplace. We hope you will stand with us and publicly share that
ideal.

In the event you would like to discuss this matter further, please contact the
executive Director of the Wisconsin Professional Police Association, Jim Palmer,
at 608.273.3840.

Thank you in advance for your consideration. We look forward to hearing from
you soon.

LOLberals...

This "boycott" won't get past the piece of paper it was written on and subsequently crumpled and tossed in the trash.

How's that government endorsed boycott of Arizona going, btw?

I'd be surprised if any business bowed to the crybaby unions. I think the businesses would support the National Right To Work Act.

How can you support Right to Work! Giving people the right to work is a blatant violation of their rights!!!

Pure thuggery, but what else can you expect from mob run unions and head in the cloud libtards.

A boycott is a perfectly legal and effective tactic.

As for the hero or villain question, it just depends on your point of view.

As for Governor Walker, the guy will surely not try to run for a second term, and may be recalled before he serves a single year in office.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/03/10/954963/-Bank-that-funded-Walker,-now-Closed
Firefighters in Wisconsin marched to the M&I bank earlier today in Madison and withdrew their money. In total they took an estimated $192,000.

They asked others to follow their lead. Apparently others did. Just updated:

A call to M&I's Capitol Square branch confirms the bank is closed for the rest of the day.

This is how you protest.

Anyone that has any money in this bank, no matter how little, should withdraw it ASAP. Make them feel the pain that they are causing the little people.

Of course it might be difficult to withdraw today, as they've had to close their doors to prevent a run. This story should continue to get out. The success of closing a bank even temporarily, will inspire other groups to continue their efforts.

Starving = paying slightly more into your pension plan then you did before and having your union lose the right to collectively bargain in certain areas during negotiations?

Starving as in losing your job and being replaced with someone earning half as much.

The Ohio bill is not slightly... Does the Wisconsin bill have the same 80% contribution requirement for health care and retirement?

An Ohio teacher in mid career stands to lose about $1300 a month net pay.

That is not even fucking close to slight.

So the government has taken away the unions ability to blackmail it into giving them what they want so in response they are going to blackmail private businesses?

Things like this bank run will cause backlash against them as innocent people get caught up in this battle. Same with boycotts of businesses that have nothing to do with this battle.

BTW expect the unions to get even more hysterical as this battle continues since the unions can not afford to lose this battle as it could cripple them.

And, the unions haven't even brought out the big guns yet. I'm not pro union, I'm anti "right to work."

Really?

The Ohio bill requires Ohio teachers to take a $15,600 pay cut?

Or are they being asked to lose benefits that are worth $15,600 a year? And if that is the case then just how much in benefits do the teachers earn per year compared to their salary level?

Someone doesn't understand that workers like to make money too.

I'm not surprised as you would always always always side with businesses... However I hope you see the hypocrisy in defending one person maximizing profit and not the other.

Their contribution to their benefits (this is not just teachers in Ohio, it is all government employees, minus administration of course) has been increased from 20% to 80%. So depending on which glass you are looking through, they are either losing benefits or losing net pay.
