Unlock Verizon Moto G CDMA?

I have a Verizon Moto G CDMA. (its a no contract phone)

I contacted Verizon to see if I could use the phone with another carrier, and the rep said I should be fine, but the phone will need to be unlocked with a clean MEID....and I wont lose my current phone number and will be able to transfer it also.

Ok, so how do I unlock this thing and flash it so it has a clean MEID?
All I can find is info on Moto G's with sim cards....the CDMA phones like mine don't have sim cards.

Any links or info would be greatly appreciated. :thumbsup:

Is it missing a sim card or doesn't have a sim card slot? If it's the latter, then you won't be able to use it on a GSM carrier.

The ESN/MEID is found on the phone or in the settings area. You can check online if it is clean, but you can also call verizon and ask them to check it for you too.

It never had a Sim card, the CDMA version of this phone (Verizon Moto G CDMA) doesn't come with one.
I want to use it on another CDMA carrier, so I'm not worried about going GSM.

The Verizon rep said I'd have to flash it to have a clean MEID to switch carriers though.

Ok, so then you are alright if you are sticking with CDMA.

If a rep is telling you to flash your phone to get a clean MEID, then it sounds like you have a bad MEID to begin with. Perhaps reaching out to the carrier you are planning to use might be helpful since they can tell you if the phone can be used on their network in its current state.

You could flash the stock rom, but not sure if that will change the MEID. Even if you did that, you may run into issues so no sure if it will be worth it.

The phone is still currently in service with Verizon, so the current MEID is good.

Funny you should suggest contacting the carrier Im planning to use, they have an app to check my MEID on their site and it when I enter it, it says the MEID is good and asks if I would like to transfer my current phone number.

So I decided to talk to a Verizon rep before I actually tried it, and he definitely confused me by mentioning unlocking the phone 1st.

I'm a cellphone newb...so I'm lost.

note: Im the only owner of this phone, I bought it new and am still currently using it with Verizon.

(doesn't anyone actually use phones for customer service anymore?...LOL)

Anyway, she said the MEID looks good and it will transfer, all I have to do is use their online app and follow the steps to transfer my phone along with it's current phone number.
