hey, im running win XP on a 750 duron on a KT7 mobo and when i pressed the power button in windows it went to hibernation and when i tried to start the computer again i get a blue screen loading up windows saying unmountable boot volume and stuff...and ideas on how i could fix it? scandisk doesnt work on drive C: it jus freezes at 0% and then says it cant scan it. i had this problem a few months ago and fixed it bt accident. I was moving files n deleting stuff on drive C: in preparation of a format and reinstall but then scandisk suddenly starting working and it booted up fine. Any ideas to help? thanks in advance -Tony

>unmountable boot volume

I feel your pain. I had the same problem and I'm quite good at resolving problems but this one bites. I ended up formatting re-installing everything.

you dont have to reformat!!!!do this:
1>turn on pc and go into bios and boot to cd-rom
2>put in your xp cd
3>it will ask you to hit enter to boot to cd-hit enter
4>wait until it asks you if you want to install winxp or go to recovery console-hit "R"(note:if you have a partitioned hard drive it will ask you which drive you want to access......mine is and so i hit" 1" for "c" drive and enter...it will ask for password i dont have one so just hit enter for none or enter your admin password....then it will have the prompt of "c/windows"type "help"for list of commands)
5>hit enter to scroll down to the c/windows prompt and then type in "chkdsk" it will say if you want to continue to enter "chkdsk-space-/p "do it and hit enter...
6>it will tell you if there are errors-there will be
7>then scroll to c/windows prompt and type in"fixmbr"and hit enter
8>it will say do you want to continue with some warning...
9>tye in y or yes and hit enter
10>it will say mbr is fixed and you will have a c/windows prompt
11>restart pc and go into bios change first boot device to hd-1 or 0 or whatever hard drive you boot to and wallah!!

ps-i have had that happen to me about 10 times and it is caused by(in my case)using bootvis and putting memory cooling spreaders on my ram)

-REPORT BACK AND LET ME KNOW IF THAT DID IT!!
PEACE
