Now when NVidia's talking about their 3GB/s SATA, is this just a faster version of the first SATA, or is it going to be actual Serial ATA 2.0 with native command queing and all that cool jazz?

No, because it won't have SoundStorm 2.

Does anyone have any clue when we might start seeing mobo's? In particular I'm wondering about the Asus board. I want to build a new PC after the Christmas holidays and nforce 4, socket 939 would be my choice at the moment......possible?

Given that the original SoundStorm is still the fastest (least CPU intensive, least FPS impact) 3D audio solution, I imagine they would have made SS2 (if it existed) comparable or better than Audigy 2 except for support for the proprietary EAX modes (EAX 3 and EAX 4). Analog sound quality, as with SS, would have probably been primarily dependent on the DAC that mobo manufacturers chose, which in all liklihood would have been something crappy by Realtek.

So in some ways better (digital encoding of D3D audio possible, and low CPU usage on 3D positional audio) and some ways worse (analog SNR)

guys i need a bit of help... i bout the amd 64 3200+ S939 from dabs.com... it reached me today ...
the website didnt state wether it was 90nm i.e winchester or not which is wat i was looking for... now that i have recieved it the box only says its

athlon 64 3200+ with HT cool and quiet something
and a star symbol (S939)


how do i know if its 90nm or not.... are all S939 amd processors 90nm???...

and oh it comes with a heatsink and fan i.e its not OEM... as far as i knew 90nm processors were only OEM for the moment...??

if its a socket 939 @ 3200+ it will be a winchester cpu.
only the 3500+ comes in 90 & 130nm socket 939 versions.

also the thing is i bought the 6600 for pcie to go along with this and was hoping to the the ax8 but no one had them in stock so im still waiting for them to be available... but the early reviews show it is too slow... should i now wait for some other 939 pcie mobo or nforce4 ultra even or just get the ax8??

if it were me, for a non-SLi mobo id definitely go Asus A8N-E Premium (nforce4).
but im more likely to go for a SLi mobo and 2 cards as prices start to drop.
