We have a thread with the guy who wrote up the review over at extremeoc. He emailed the review to a few sites already (including anandtech and asus). He ordered a chaintech board and is going to hold on to the asus for another week or so to see if Asus releases and update.

yep 219 completely stable, 220 will get into windows then randomly restarts, 225 restarts after windows loading screen shows up, and sometimes even in bios while i am trying to lower the settings. Even if i went to a multiplier of 4 for processor and ram at 100mhz.

that sounds about right. xtremeforums also had the same results. I am waiting for my new VNF3-250 to arrive. I can't wait! I think the K8N-E is going for a long ride inside a Fed Ex truck tomorrow.

I realy think asus will fix this, hold out till the end of your rma period, or at least give it a week. Even asus's 775 boards get better overclocking and intel locked them at 10% so if they can get solid overclocks with a 775 they can definitely do it with a 754.

you're comparing apples to red lobster. I will rma the damn thing and if a better bios is released later I can always buy another. It keeps going down in price anyways. I paid 159 at zzf now it's 139 at newegg.
pretty soon it will cost nothing.

do whatever you want, but the comparison was to make a point, except for possibly abit (epox from time to time), asus is known as the best in overclocking so they are not likley to release a high-end board that cant overclock.

Abit doesn't even have an nF3 based board.
You'd have to deal with VIA if you want an Abit A64 board.

Asus doesn't have the competition in the AMD market that it does in the Intel market.
Also, I imagine that they are more concerned with developing a highly overclockable socket 939 board (more money) than a highly overclockable socket 754 board.

They will come around when one of two things happens:
1) Abit (or some other consequential board maker in Asus's eyes) has to start pulling out the stops in socket 754 overclocking.
2) Reviewers and customers start making a lot of noise about the overclocking issue.

just added some complaints to the asus help desk, I suggest everyone hitting the 220 wall with the board files similar complaints, more likely to get a response then. Though it would be best if anand/sharky/tom's would get a review up and complain to asus, as they have a bit more pull then the rest of us.

I sent them a 3 page problem report with my problems i posted last week here with my board i got a check your boot order email back when I told them it was the only drive in the box at the time..

I am getting the feeling that it is shipping iwth the htt bus set to a mutliplier of 5, for 1000mhz, which nforce3 is capable of, since we cant control it i am not sure if we can test this theory but it would explain the crashes we are getting at around 220mhz and above, as that would take the bus to 1100mhz which is probably more then it can handle.

You can easily change it to 800 or even lower and there's still no way of getting past 220htt. I tried 1002 and the 1003 bios and that changes nothing. Even when resetting cmos nothing changes except it makes the system even more unstable.

where can you change it? You can change the processor mutliplier, not hypertransport bus mutliplier, unless there is a setting i am missing? I see processor (which for me goes from 800-2000), but nothing on hypertransport which should be 1-4 or 1-5, or 200-800 or 200-1000.

I think you have to enable Cool and Quiet to see the option.

That's it the 800-2000 is the cpu multi. There is no option fot htt link on the k8n-e deluxe as of yet.

I know, and i think it may be set at 5 from the factory, which would explain the overclocking problems

new beta bios is now up 1003.1004, not sure what if anythign different it does, but might be worth a try.

I just got this board a few days ago and put it all together etc. Only problem is it will only post once. When I load defaults and exit/save the computer restarts but doesn't post.

I've tried upping the vcore to 1.575 and memory voltage to 1.7v but no luck. I do have 2x512 sticks of the Corsair XMS 3200XL, and they do require 2.8v which the board doesn't offer.

Anyone who have this board experience any problems like this?
