I'm also starting to wonder if they'll even bother having a separate weekend deal considering how slammed the servers are getting right now. I was hoping for some 50-75% off Mass Effect Love

My favourite map has always been Facing Worlds. I love that map.

For some reason, I can't seem to download it. It keeps telling me that Steam servers are busy or it says Download starting... and then never actually downloads anything. I've tried several times yesterday and today. -_-;

For $12 shipped, no tax you really can't go wrong if you like fast-paced futuristic shooters. The Black/Titan changes are pretty noticeable though. Its been slightly cheaper in the past with various sales from sites like Gogamer, etc.

it's not just downloading that's having the problem. i bought the game at retail on day of release, registered the copy on steam last month, downloaded the titan pack yesterday, and can't launch the game now, says steam is too busy !!

I can confirm that every Gamestop I have been in has UT3 for $13. Better than Circuit City's clearance price just a few days ago.

Their servers are probably hammered. I've heard about this deal and the new pack on other forums too.

I hope this spurs people to play UT3 more at LANs. The few times I played, had a blast! It had solid performance and gameplay. Only thing was that TF2 and COD4 came out around the same time and those were complete blockbusters, so otherwise great games like UT3 and ET:QW never built up a fan base.

maybe because of the free weekend? I am 99% sure I don't own it lol. It isn't under my games and I never remember buying it, though I do remember playing the demo I think

I checked the properties of my TF2 files through Steam and it is 7.2 GB. Close enought to 8gb for me.

As for UT3, I have had my computer running since Thursday non-stop and only got 4% d/l for UT3.

I think it's worth $12 if you enjoyed UT99 CTF. At least it would be based on the player counts I saw this weekend, but who knows how long that will last since it was a free sample weekend.

For the first time in a couple years I was able to enjoy regular weapons CTF on public servers. UT 2004's CTF game sucked because of the floaty-dodgey movement and hitscan emphasis and, consequently, UT 2004 regular weapons CTF has been dead for a couple years now, but UT3's game play isn't too bad (though not as good as UT99).

The patch improves the User Interface some, but there's still lots of work to be done. It still loads the main menu background map and it still feels clunky and slow (like a console port user interface). Also, you can't seamlessly and quickly pull up the server browser from anywhere--you still have to leave a server before you can pull it up.

I'm may just pay the extra $3 and order the game from Amazon. I loved 2K4 and have just been dragging my feet on UT3

UT3 is easily worth $12. It's hard to compare it to TF2 - I play both and like them for different reasons.

UT3 is a straight up shooter where everybody is on relatively equal footing and the outcome is heavily dependent on skill. It's a blast if you want an in-your-face shooter where aggressive tactics are rewarded and your aim/movement skills can carry you through a series of difficult fights unscratched. Prior to this latest patch the population was fairly low and it could be difficult to find a good server if you were on the west coast.

TF2 feels a lot more strategic with the classes and you need to constantly alter your plans based on your environment, your team, and the enemy classes around you. It's a great change of pace because each class plays so differently from each other and depending on the situation. At the same time, sometimes it's frustrating to not be as powerful as a UT character - particularly when playing an offensive character like the soldier or heavy weapon specialist. Then you can't help but feel that if you could just play a UT3 character instead you could wipe out the entire enemy team by yourself.

I recommend buying them both.
