A tweet from Mark Rein, Vice President and Co-Founder of Epic Games, reads: "I love #UnrealTournament - So excited for the comeback! More next week!" Rein confirmed the news again, saying "Yes UT coming back!" when a fan asked for clarification.

Paul Meegan, VP of Product Development at Epic, followed Rein's tweet with information on when we'll know more: "UE4 Dev Community + Epic. The future of Unreal Tournament. Tune in to Twitch.tv/UnrealEngine Thursday at 2pm ET."

Dunno, depends on how well supported it is and how they do the actual gameplay design.

True, but I would get anything close to as good at UT2003/2004. I love UT as well, all three were classics.

Maybe they see an opening for a highly competitive FPS game that is NOT CoD or something? Who knows

OMG

UT2k4 is one of the best games ever. If this is close to that then immediate PC upgrade for me.

UT3 was fun for a while but didn't have that much that kept me coming back for years after.

Quake Live is holding it down for now, it'd be nice to see UT come back into the scene... and when I say back into it, I mean across all boards. Casual, mod community, and competitive play.

I like UT2004. Its fun to set all AI players and game speed to 300 percent. Then just let it run until your computer cries like a little bitch.
Its also fun to see 16xAA at 320x240.

Best part...

So what’s the catch?

• It will take many months until the game is playable by gamers. This is real development from scratch.
• When the game is playable, it will be free. Not free to play, just free.
• We’ll eventually create a marketplace where developers, modders, artists and gamers can give away, buy and sell mods and content. Earnings from the marketplace will be split between the mod/content developer, and Epic. That’s how we plan to pay for the game.

Eventually someone may go about porting it to the PS4/XB1 if it does well.
